Multi-Nozzle Structrual Foam Molding

is an injection molding process that mixes nitrogen with the resin under pressure during the melting process. The material is then injected into the mold under low pressure. The gas is allowed to expand to fill the space, forming a lower density, highly rigid, thick-walled plastic part that is lighter than can be achieved with standard injection molding. The end result is two rigid outer surfaces with a foam inner core area made up of resin and tiny gas bubbles. In the early 1970s EPC was one of the early pioneers in developing the process of multi-nozzle, low pressure structural foam molding. This process works especially well with large molds that would otherwise be impossible to fill properly due to long flow lengths.
