Didn't need it for what I was doing until a year later, heated up really quick with a quarter throttle and immediately stopped working on a 3S lipo. Would not recommend

I had wanted to use this ESC for a small fixed wing RC plane. While assembling the project I needed to test motor direction, so I connected a 4S LiPo and a Servo Tester to the ESC. After the initialization and tones indicating it recognized a 4S battery, the motor spun briefly, and then the ESC popped right there on the workbench. Figuring I might have received a dud, I ordered another of the same ESC, and the same thing happened. I then ordered an ESC with a brand name I'd used before, and it worked just fine.Take a look at the photos. In the second photo there's a burned out component, and you can see a lead from a capacitor overshooting it's solder joint and coming very close to that component. Not sure if the lead was a factor or not, but the 3rd photo shows similar shoddy assembly on the other ESC.Maybe this ESC would work OK with a 3S battery, but it claims to handle up to 4S, and based on my experience, they don't.

The ESC is indeed bidirectional. It worked as advertised but I haven't tested it for a long time. The seller contacted me after the purchase to ensure the product arrived and everything was okay! Never had that happen so kudos.I only wish it had connectors for the motor already, but for the price you can't complain too much.
