I was hoping this was an SCR dimmer in a conveniently small package for my application. It does not seem to be a SCR. I put it in series with a 60W incandescent bulb and 120vac. Turning the knob does nothing. A tiny current does flow as I can get a little spark, but it will not light the bulb. I'm going to dissect it in an attempt to learn more.

Installed it for my bedroom wall sconce and it worked for about 3 nights and then stopped dimming.

Shaft too short and there’s a cover on the switch that falls apart. Waste of money

It works but if you want to use LED bulbs- get the highest wattage you can find. I got GE’s ultra bright - 2,610 lumens. If you get a LED that’s low wattage it might not register. The switch has a minimum wattage threshold and is meant probably for halogen and incandescent bulbs. It’s works with the LED I bought though. A $10 bulb.
