My 5 gallon shop vac came with a hard plastic band to hold the dry filter in place. It has always been a pain to get it to sit right on the vacuum. This kit comes with 8 rubber retaining bands that are stretchy. This might seem like a trivial difference, but for me, this is an improvement over the hard plastic, It makes getting the filter in place so much easierThe foam sleeves fit my 5 gallon shop vac perfectly. They are as dense as the OEM.
