These have been great for me so far, but I have not had the chance to test them on anything very thick. Just smaller branches. The adjustable size seems very convenient if you have smaller hands, mine are fairly large so I don't mind leaving it in the larger setting but it has even been nice for me to have the smaller option too.

I was able to cut small branches of about 5/8" with no problem. Probably could go a little bigger but I had no reason to. The shears are comfortable to hold and there are two open positions of different sizes. There is a lock to keep the shears in the closed position for storing. I did have a problem with the shears not closing completely after using them for about 5 minutes. The top blade no longer lined up properly with the lower blade keeping it from closing fully and not allowing the lock to engage. Simply putting a little light pressure on the top blade allowed it to close and lock. I only docked one star for this as I didn't feel it was a major issue.

I haven't bought new shears in many years, and was pleased to see how they have evolved over the elapsed years. The grips fit the hand very comfortably, the locking mechanism is effective and not inclined to accidentally engage (very frustrating when that happens) and they cut cleanly and with a minimum of squeezing force. That's a nice improvement for my 75 year old hands. My hands are large, so the feature of limiting how wide this opens if desired is not especially valuable to me, but I can imagine that people with smaller hands would really appreciate using that; it automatically limits how wide the hand grips spread when routinely cutting smaller branches. These are so nice, I am contemplating getting a couple more for my kids. Their hands aren't getting any younger, either.

These pruning shears has all of the features I need. I have medium sized hands and the smaller cutting size fits nicely in my hand for one hand operation. The larger cutting size requires some dexterity for one hand operation.I used the pruning shears to trim the dead fronds from our European Fan Palm tree. The fronds are thick, hard and armed with sharp spines along the stalk. The base of the stalk is too thick and high up to use these shears. However, they made short work cutting the stalk off the fan. Smooth and easy cuts. There is a cushioning pad that eliminates the vibrational shock when the shears suddenly snap closed during hard cuts. The only issue I noticed is one of the handles has a bit of play in it. It is minor and doesn’t affects its use. The handles are made out of hard plastic with a rubber like non-slip grip. Overall, the pruning shears work well and are an excellent value at this price point.
