don’t buy this cpu at full price. If you’re building a new pc, go for newer generation platforms. If you are looking to upgrade an AM4 platform, get the 3800x3d if you only game (it’s literally the best gaming cpu for AM4). ONLY GET THIS IF YOU KNOW WHY YOU NEED IT. Do you render 4K videos in production setting? No? Get 3800x3d. Do you render 3d projects or work with autoCAD? No? Get the 3800x3d. It is not a good deal nor great for gaming. It also runs REALLY HOT. Make sure you have a very strong cooling solution.

At one point, I decided to build a entry level small PC that was more used as a day to day light duty computer. I wanted something that was compact so I settled for a Lian Li A4H2O. I stuck a 5600 in there with a 4060ti and it more than did the trick for light gaming and everyday use, and I liked that didn't take up much space at all.Having used this computer for a while, I thought....I could probably happily use this computer for another 5 years if I upgraded the CPU. I sometimes do some media work and the 5600 is a bit slow for those tasks compared to my 10700K in my main desktop. So seeing this 5950x reach a low of $460, I couldn't say no to the value proposition of running 32t/16 core workloads and still be able to stay in the thermal limits of my ITX case with a 240mm water cooler.....and it worked. I can easily run rings around my 10700K for encoding tasks, and the whole thing stays cool enough.Nice!!If you have an AM4 platform, you can easily spruce it up with one of these or one of the X3D variants and still get another few years out of them.....no need to jump to AM5. You can wait it out until the 9000 AMDs are discounted heavily, you get the best value per dollar spent by staying one generation behind when the previous gen goes on discount like this.

This is a great processor for a budget-friendly PC build. Snappy, responsive and the 6 cores are an added bonus compared to the competition's offerings.Quite glad with this processor and would recommend it without reservations.

I love it , works perfectly I am getting over 360 Fps on Forza Motor sports with an a low of only 340fps , and in cyberpunk 2077 I am getting average of 236fps. My Pc specs are :MSI Godlike EATX mother board240gigs of ram ,RedDevil 6950xt gpu2000 watt power supplyMSI GPU water cooler ,,3 82cm screen MSI 4k curved main monitorsBefore when I had just an 8 core CPU I was only getting 200fps on Forza motor sports and only 140fps on Cyberpunk 2077 so this CPU is a power house that is if you have a proper setup ,,,,,,,, The AMD 5850x paired with a RedDevil 6950xt is a match made in heaven

The CPU can fluctuate between 3.4GHz and 5.0GHz, but it will get hot (60-90 degrees Celsius). I stress tested it with AMD Ryzen Master and it performs well while not exceeding 90 degrees. My BIOS settings default to overclocking so I have to tweak the settings (ex. after a BIOS update). I disabled Precision Boost Overdrive and set the CPU Core Ratio at 3.4GHz, which is its base clock speed, wherefor the temperature gets between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius. I prefer a lower CPU temperature as opposed to overclocking. Liquid cooling is required, in my case being the ASUS TUF Gaming LC 120 ARGB which was a solid choice for my build, looks totally awesome.I upgraded from a Ryzen 7 3700X with a Wraith Prism. The computer ran just fine with 8 cores, but altogether it performs better and feels much more complete. Full system startup in 30-45 seconds. UserBenchmark places this CPU at the 80th percentile; "With a good single core score, this CPU can easily handle the majority of general computing tasks. Additionally this processor can handle intensive workstation, and even full-fledged server workloads. Finally, with a gaming score of 80%, this CPU's suitability for 3D gaming is very good." ~ UserBenchmarkI monitor my clock speed and CPU temperature with the software Core Temp.Skál.

After upgrading my graphics card from a GForce GTX 1660 to an RTX 4090, it was time to remove the CPU bottle-neck from some of my workflow. I did not want to go through the expense of upgrading my motherboard to support the newer generation of AM5 CPUs and so the best option I could find was a significant jump (in price) to the Ryzen 9 5950X.Moving from a Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 9 5950X netted a 25% performance boost in my 3D rendering workflow. While the price-tag seems a bit steep for only 25% I am comfortable with the cost due to lowered render times. Imagine cutting 1h from a 4h render - every time.I found that my CPU cooler (wraith prism) was not really able to keep up with the Ryzen 9 5950X under full-load and thermal throttling was observed. I've since moved to an MSI P360 AIO water-cooling system because water cooling offers more smoothing of heat cycles as compared to air-cooling which needs to throttle up and down as the load modulates. The net result is less fan spin-up/spin-down noise as well as less high-rate temperature cycling.

This review comes from Intel fanboy. In over 40 years that's all I have used all Intel X series CPU's and the latest was 12900k, yes 12900k. You would assume that is downgrade going to 5950X....think again.Ween I first installed this 5950X and so the clock speeds and how cool it run straight from the box, I fall in love with this CPU.Straight from the box means, PBO "auto" which realty means Off and this is also B2-Stepping batch, clocks all day long 4.9MHz-5050MHz and cooled by NH-D15...I absolutely love it.Compare to 12900k that was constantly hitting 90C-95C and throttling like crazy, its like comparing night and day.You can't beat 105 TDP 16 core CPU that can run comfortably 5GHz at 60-65C on any platform to Intel's base 125 TDP that runs 5.1GHz at 90C-95C on top of that, you need windows 11 for the e and p core to run properly.....no thanks.Totally recommend and again that is coming from long time Intel fanboy.

A faulty/defective processor arrived but they gave a swift replacement. Amazon service is one of the world's best.Believe me this processor is a beat and monstrous. You will definitely need a high tier 240mm or any 360mm Aio.To undervolt the processor go to the Pbo settings set the PBO limits off and curve optimiser to negative and put 10 (start tweaking from here).I am happy from my purchase. Thanks Amazon and seller I was nervous when order turned out to be faulty but they replaced it three days. Thanks
