ESP32-WROOM-32 (ESP-WROOM-32) is a powerful, generic WiFi+BT+BLE MCU module that targets a wide variety of applications, ranging from low-power sensor networks to the most demanding tasks, such as voice encoding, music streaming and MP3 decoding. At the core of this module is the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip. The chip embedded is designed to be scalable and adaptive.

There are two CPU cores that can be individually controlled, and the clock frequency is adjustable from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. The user may also power off the CPU and make use of the low-power co-processor to constantly monitor the peripherals for changes or crossing of thresholds.

ESP32 integrates a rich set of peripherals, ranging from capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, SD card interface, Ethernet, high-speed SPI, UART, I2S and I2C. The integration of Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE and WiFi ensures that a wide range of applications can be targeted and that the module is future-proof: using WiFi allows a large physical range and direct connection to the internet through a WiFi router while using Bluetooth allows the user to conveniently connect to the phone or broadcast low energy beacons for its detection.

The sleep current of the ESP32 chip is less than 5 µA, making it suitable for battery-powered and wearable electronics applications.

ESP32 supports a data rate of up to 150 Mbps, and 20.5 dBm output power at the antenna to ensure the widest physical range. As such the chip does offer industry-leading specifications and the best performance for electronic integration, range, power consumption, and connectivity. ESP32-D0WDQ6 contains two low-power Xtensa 32-bit LX6 microprocessors.

The internal memory includes:

  • 448 kB of ROM for booting and core functions
  • 520 kB (8 kB RTC FAST Memory included) of on-chip SRAM for data and instruction
  • 8 kB of SRAM in RTC, which is called RTC FAST Memory and can be used for data storage; it is accessed by the main CPU during R

Arduino IDE? Not a problem!Works with WLED? But of course!!Quite happy with this board.

This is an outdated model, long time marked by the manufacturer of the chip as “not for new design”.

I bought two of it, but both oh them connect only very close to my router. Is it necessary any antenna? If there are any way to fix it, please let me know than I change the review. Thank you.

It works nicely well for my learning and practice. It has more resources compared to the regular Arduino Uno.

Update:I attached a photo showing two pins that had been soldered together "unintentionally". These pins were the RST and GND. This causes the CPU to hang at boot making it impossible to program. After spending numerous hours debugging this hardware, I found this issue. The part does work as intended after finding the problem, but it should not have been shipped this way. Quality Control is Mediocre.Original:I have properly installed the Arduino board packages and CH340 drivers for this board and the Arduino IDE refuses to program it. After following numerous guides online about pressing the boot button while the Arduino IDE is attempting to connect yielded no results. Upon further inspection of the hardware, this board is missing 2 components, one is a capacitor, the other, I am not sure as I cannot discern what it is in the photo. A refund would be nice, or a board that actually works. I ordered this on December 18, 2020 and received it on January 8th, 2021. Nearly 20 days waiting for a product that didn't work. Total bummer :(

Fast shipping as usual. The ESP32 Uno type board came exactly as described and works perfect! I've bought quite a few things from Universal Solder and have yet to have an issue with the products or shipping.

This board is a great way to learn ESP32 programming. It has the ESP32 chip, plus USB interface, unlike some minimal ESP boards. It has Arduino-compatible headers for external connections. I am programming it in microPython, either through the USB or over the air with the wifi connection. I just created a web server that sends the values of the inputs to a browser. Incredible value for the price.
