Introducing the Cardea Essential Cable Window RestrictorThe Essential Window Restrictor offers a simple and functional solution to falls out of windows and can be fitted to an opening of 10cm in line with HSE guidelines or 8.9cm in line with child-proof guidelines.
The Essential restrictor can be used on all kinds of windows, including PVC, aluminium, wooden and metal profiles - and even doors.
The restrictor is provided with two keyed alike keys, which means that the restrictor cable cannot be unlocked or removed without the key holder’s knowledge.
The lock cannot be easily compromised by insertion of blade or other sharp implements e.g. a screwdriver or scissors.
Suitable wherever there is a risk of accidental or intentional falls from high windows, in particular in the homes hotels and student accommodation.

The key quality is poor and the close/open with key is not consistent and difficult.Otherwise it is still practical and the material in general is good.

Easy install. Recommend to avoid kids pushing windows wide open and falling out. Probably can break it with great force (not a solution against burglars), but probably will stop a child from falling out of a window by pushing it too wide open.

Bought this because my son was climbing up on the bathroom window sill which has a throw out window and he has figured out how to open it, this is a perfect item to stop any accidents for happening,really easy to fit and feel very strong

These work great and so far appear to be of high quality for the price. Easy to install and depending on how much you offset the two ends, you can control how much of a gap there is when open.In my case, due to the trim I elected to screw the key side in to the side of the window return. I had to use proper wood screws of a adequate length ( 1 1/2”). The supplied self tapping screws worked well on the vynal/PVC window though.Overall a great product. The two I got had the same key pattern too. Not sure if luck or they may be all the same key.For fire safety I am not too worried as an adult could likely kick the widow out in a true emergency. I got these for my cats and my kids to not accidentally open it too far and fall out.
