"2000" grit is coarser than the "1000" grit. In general, these plates are in a pinch for putting an edge on a blade. They're very thin, so you need to put them on a block of some sort in order to use them

Perfect for a woodworking beginner like me. I am using these to sharpen chisels and plane blades. Much better results than whet stones (that cost more). Tried using them dry and with light oil, but they worked much better with a spray of water. So far after sharpening 6 chisels and two plane blades they show no signs of wear. Great product.

What's the point of the honeycomb pattern, which is catching on my carving gouges and chipping the edges causing me to start a long process over again? Even my carving knife felt like it was running over speed bumps on the 2000 grit.

I only have used these thrice but insofar as I can tell, they perform adequately for the expense incurred

I recently got into sharpening after cutting myself for the millionth time on a dull knife. I started with your average resin-bonded whetstone but didn’t particularly like the finish or the mess of having to water the stone. I heard about diamond stones from my work at a ski shop, found these, and gave them a try. These plates are exactly what I needed for my setup. I used a 3D printer to create clampable bases for each plate and glued them on. They’ve worked like a charm ever since. While these worked for me, without a proper base, they will slide all over the place and be extremely hard to use due to the height of the plate (not even 2mm). If you're willing to DIY some bases, these are 5 stars; if not, they are not worth the buy.

I have had a good experience with these for sharpening my hand tools. I have the three lowest grits epoxied down on a base and the 2000 grit on its own. They work well and feel like they are going to last longer than I would have expected. For this price I will definitely be getting more. They are not as nice as my Atoma Dimond plates, put they cost significantly more. I use both but for different task. I am please with these.
