Convert an RS232 data signal to RS485 or RS422
The DTECH Industrial RS232 to RS-422/485 Serial Converter is a bi-directional adapter that lets you adapt an RS232 data signal to either RS485 (2 or 4-wire) or RS422 and vice-versa, with support for baud rates up to 115.2 Kbps. The adapter supports auto baud rate detection as well as RS-422 and RS485 mode detection, and supports connection distances of up to 4000ft (1200m).
It is suitable for most applications, including industrial, commercial and any general office computer device.

unit is nice and works as expected. no complaints there. tested at different baud rates etc. it is all good. the 5mm screw terminals are large and easy to use - much handier than 3.5mm on some other units.but it could be better (and reason for only 4 stars):* there are no LEDs to indicate power, and send/receive activity. LEDs are cheap and there is no excuse for it.* it requires supply that is 6V-9V. some other products from same manufacturer use 5V-30V and i it would be great if this one would too.* terminal labels are not easy to read (green on green, obscured by terminals and wires). More over they are marked with generic "GND" and "VCC". one day when manual is not at hand, not many will remember that VCC is actually 6-9V.

Had to extend length of old RS-232 network to 900 feet at 19.2 kbps half duplex. That was a perfect budgetary solution. Had to add bias resistors and no running required.

Unlike another one I bought that claimed to do both 2-wire RS-485 AND 4-wire RS-422, this one actually does both standards very well. Connects every time and works like a champ. Highly recommend.

Tested it at 19.2 Kbps and works great. No need for an external power supply as it is powered by the RS 232 port.
