8 DIGIT POWER CONDITIONER, 150 AMP ADV AC STRIP, 8 OUTLET WITH SMP

From the Manufacturer

For over 30 years, Furman has pioneered the development of AC power products for the most demanding audio, video, and broadcast professionals. Furman's Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) delivers the purest AC power and the most comprehensive protection available - going far beyond what is found in traditional surge strips. With Furman's Power Station Series, everyone can reap the benefits of unrivaled power purification and unequalled surge protection. The PST-8 all feature Furman's SMP circuit which incorporates Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) and a high current TVZ-MOV to insure that any electronic device (including televisions, projectors, CD-DVD players, or computers) is fed clean, filtered AC power. This dramatically reduces noise, ensuring consistent peak performance from your equipment. Typical AC filters feature antiquated non-linear circuits. Though these multiple stage filters or power cleaners reduce some noise, they do so unevenly. In fact, they can add noise to your power line due to their filter's excessive resonant peaking. With Furman's proprietary Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT), AC noise is suppressed evenly, assuring maximum performance from your system. Furman's SMP circuit offers the highest degree of protection available without sacrificing itself or any of its components. Another feature that is unique to Furman's SMP circuit is automatic extreme-voltage shutdown. Extreme voltages are statistically the most common, damaging AC event. The Extreme Voltage Shutdown circuit automatically turns off the unit when it is fed 137 volts or higher protecting itself and connected equipment from the extreme voltage. Only Furman offers this degree of protection. Add Telco and cable /satellite transient voltage suppression, and you have what is, unquestionably, the most comprehensive protection available in a portable AC power conditioner.

I obviously missed this detail but this very hefty and apparently well engineered piece of equipment does not provide surge protection for ethernet (RJ-45) only telco (RJ-11). I honestly didn't even have occurred to me that it wouldn't. Seems like an odd omission in 2024. Would have given it five stars otherwise.

I am a career music producer and I use a lot of analog equipment in my studio. For whatever reason I have never used a power conditioner. I admit that there was often an annoying buzz in my mixer signal but I chalked it up to it being a piece of true analog equipment and that that buzz was just a part of its operation. And usually the music was enough to mask it. But very recently I moved and had to set up my studio in a new country. After a month of setting it up, I was finally back to work and mixing a project on my Thermionic Culture Fat Bustard 2 when I heard a sound in the signal that sounded like a distant power saw. (That is in addition to the low buzz I was used to.) So, I took my headphones off and sat quietly. Sure enough I could hear someone using a table saw. With one ear in a headphone and the other listening I could confirm that whenever the saw was active it penetrated my audio signal with high frequency buzzing. This was just the beginning. When the sawing finished I heard a new sound. A rhythmic hum/click/buzz that went for about 2 seconds every 5 seconds... The source... my own washing machine. Immediately I went on the search for a power conditioner. I settled on the Furman PST-8 because it was the lowest priced one with Furman's "LiST" technology. I was incredibly nervous setting it up, expecting the hum to still be there. I was wrong. I've never heard my $7000 mixer sound so pristine. The buzz was gone entirely, leaving just the very low level floor noise that all analog gear has. I am kicking myself that I never got this years or even decades ago. If you use analog music gear, you need this to get the most out of all that expensive goodness. And I tested with power tools and the washing machine. The interference is gone and my signal is cleaner than ever before.Highly recommended.P.S. I see some reviews complaining that it doesn't work for them but in those reviews it seems their power is not what their problem is. I can say that this cleans up AC power exceptionally well.

I live in a small town in a rural area and my only ISP option is DSL(!). I know, I know.My service lives or dies by lightning & power surges.I've had to buy new routers or have them reset due to an unstable electric grid where I am.I can't describe the relief when I plugged the DSL phone line from the wall jack to the tank-like power protector and then another from the tank to my router. So far...Blasts of lightning & rain last night. No light flickers (with 8 outlets I plugged my lamp into it, too) and uninterrupted internet throughout the storm. My entertainment is streamed or internet-based to an apple laptop. This tank is more expensive than I need in terms of cost of computers/devices, but having more consistent service is worth every penny to me.

I use it for my iPad, digital piano and external speakers. There was a slight hiss without it. It was gone once I plugged into this. Highly recommend.

I bought this for the security offered to my pretty darned good audiophile components. Ideally, I would make major electrical changes to my home but not all of us are able to do the electrical modifications that a high end specialty store would recommend. So this unit has provided both security and power conditioning at an affordable price. Can I hear the difference? I think so - can I prove it? Not easily because doing a side by side comparison is difficult. I actually bought 2 of these units - one reserved for my high end receiver and another for the rest of my components because ideally, the receiver would have its own electrical connection at the box but to me, this is the next best thing. And also I do believe in the quality of this product so that's enough for me. They say that you pay your money and you take your chances but with this product, I feel confident and that I am not taking any chances while also get a better degree of electrical conditioning without breaking the bank. My highest recommendation for audiophiles on a budget!

If you are purchasing this unit for surge protection for valuable electronics gear. You've made the right decision. I am an experienced electronics engineer and the approach Furman has taken is the best I've seen. Yes, it is expensive and rather bulky, but the build quality is superb and the massive inductor and support electronics simply couldn't fit in a much smaller enclosure. Frankly, I think most people will find little advantage to the linear filtering from an audio line noise perspective, especially with modern gear. That said, buy this thing if, as I have, you've spent a ridiculous amount of money on home theatre gear and don't want the next lightning strike or line-cross to cost you big bucks. I live in a rural area, and power distribution here is a bit on the fingers-crossed side, especially during thunderstorm season and I've experienced some long-term overvoltage issues from crossed lines twice. Fortunately only a clothes dryer motor and some light bulbs were fried by those events, but now that I have finished moving in and installed a ton of expensive gear, I am more comfortable having this unit's auto shutdown on overvoltage protectiion for my stupidly expensive AVR and OLED TV. This is something only a few other high end surge protectors offer. This thing wasn't cheap to build, so the price is quite reasonable. Just buy it.

This works fine to protect my audio equipment. If you live in an area were you experience power outages. You should concider this type of protection. Another reason is it has line filltering which might improve sound quality. I didn't spend the time to see if it dose. But some people think it might.

Seems like it should be sturdy but mine arrived with the plastic packaging cracked and small pieces of plastic packaging broken off. I did not try to plug the unit in as when I moved it around there was something loose and rattling inside. Not sure if something broke inside or if bits of plastic packaging got inside it. Returned it.

I was surprised when I received this product. It was heavy, constructed almost completely out of aluminum and had a very solid build. The cable to plug into your outlet is very thick and quite long making it easy to correctly position the device. The plugs are well constructed and you can really feel them grip whatever you plug into them.Furman claims that the device will reduce AC background noise through a linear filtering process. I am using the device to power my audio set-up and I can actually hear the difference. There is more clarity in sound that is coming out of my speakers now.The product is rated to "unlimited joules," so I feel confident that it will protect my equipment from surges. While, $84 seems expensive, this product actually does what it says it will do, is incredibly well-built and a small amount to pay to protect your gear. I recommend this product without hesitation.

Been using furman products for about a decade and never had a problem with them, always reliable, quality is top notch, and in the lab these things really show they filter the raw voltage, producing a beautiful sin wave for the equipment, and on a few occasions saved equipment as well.

I purchased this product to handle my AV gear which was previously powered via an old, overly-taxed wall outlet feeding a few power strips. It does its job admirably and the peace of mind knowing that my electronics are protected is worth the $100 spent. I'm now getting a slightly better image quality from my TV/DirecTV box (better contrast, more vivid colors, deeper blacks and sharper lines.) The biggest improvement, however, is in the sound quality from my audio gear. No joke, everything sounds better. My DAC seems to benefit most from the Furman as they are particularly sensitive to power sources. The resolution is better, imaging and soundstage width/depth have improved and dynamics are better. The bass slam from my subwoofer is really awesome (though my neighbors might disagree!) This is a fine product from a respected company (forget about Monster's overpriced, failure-prone junk.) Highly recommended.
