I first tested the RJ45 network cable and it passed the test. Then, I tested the fiber optic cable and it passed as well. It has a nice, clear display and a bright backlight. There is also an LED light to help you see in dark areas. The included network test remote is used in conjunction with the test meter to test RJ45 network cables. It takes 2 AAA batteries (not included). It fits comfortably in the hand. The outer edges of the meter have a rubbery texture, which helps with grip and helps to prevent the meter from slipping out of your hand. There are extra-padded corners, which would help in case the meter were dropped. Overall, this seems to be a fairly nice tool to have on hand. I recommend it.

The FYBOPTWU - 4 in 1 Function Fiber Optic Tester is truly a 3 in 1 network tester. This tool replaces two tools and provides one additional test. You can use this tool as an optical power meter, visual fault locator, and an RJ45 network tester. It even comes with a network test remote. The FYBOPTWU - 4 in 1 Function Fiber Optic Tester is built very well. The LCD is very easy to read. The tool has like a rubber compound shell which makes it easy to grip and would also protect the device from short falls. It even has an LED light for when you are in those dark places. The device takes two AAA batteries which are not included. The device also comes with a FC-LC connector for testing LC terminated fiber patch cables. At the time of this review, the FYBOPTWU - 4 in 1 Function Fiber Optic Tester was selling for $26.49 which is a great price for a very well built 3 in one tester. No longer will you have to carry around a visual fault locator and RJ45 network tester. This tool has you covered for nearly all of your network testing needs.

This is a basic optical power meter that should meet the needs of casual users. It supports all the functions described in the listing and looks exactly like the pictures. The instructions do a reasonable job explaining the functions, however they are printed quite small. I scanned them and enlarged them on the computer to make them readable. According to the instructions, “The fuselage design meets the requirements of the human body” I guess that’s a good thing.I don’t have a calibrated optical source to verify the absolute readings, but there is a calibration procedure to adjust it if one has the right equipment.I tested it by connecting it to a 850um source through a short OM3-LC cable after setting the wavelength using the button marked with the Greek symbol lambda. I then zeroed the meter using the REF button, then added another OM3 cable in series to see how that affected the reading. It performed as expected and showed an insertion loss of around -0.25dbm, which is in line with what one might expect for a cable and coupler.I also tested the VFL which worked as expected (long press the LIGHT key), and the RJ45 continuity tester (long press the dB key).I noticed on the bottom there is a micro USB port, but no mention of it in the instructions, except for one line that says “stick to using an adapter whenever possible”. I took out the batteries and connected it to a power bank, and after pressing the power button, it turned on with the display showing “USB” in the upper right. I then connected it to a PC to see if the port might also carry data, or have a way to update the firmware. The PC didn’t acknowledge it being plugged in (didn’t show up as a serial port, disk drive, etc), so I’m guessing the port is only for power. It would have been nice if it had metal caps that screw down over the optics instead of the rubber caps attached to flaps, but it’s adequate. I also would have liked the LC adapter to firmly connect to the meter instead of just sitting on the ferrule, however most other low end optical meters or light sources work the same way. It’s supposed to have a two year warranty, as long as “The warranty card must be sealed and dated by the seller to ensure your rights and interests”. No warranty card was included, so hopefully the seller will stand behind it.
