It was sturdy & looked like it would serve it’s purpose. It didn’t work for me because the legs prevented me from rolling my wheelchair close enough to the seat to transfer. Probably if you a person could stand & sit, it would work well.

Great commode chair. The bench style seat is much more comfortable than the ones with just a plastic toilet seat on a frame. The only disadvantage is that it is not folding. Easy to adjust height and fold down arms. Was a perfect solution for us. Was very well packaged (in a big box) with minimal assembly required. Did take about 6 days to arrive.

This is a live saver for my husband who has mobility problems. It was super easy to set up and seems very sturdy. He love the fact it can be set higher than his ADA toilet that was installed in his bathroom. This is going to make our lives much easier. As this is a new item and he's only used it once, I'll be checking back to let you know if it has drawbacks. So far it looks great.

Excellent, but buy a cushion for the seat unless you're planning on being on and off quickly! Also, skin will try to stick to it which makes it more difficult to stand up therefore, we place washcloths around the seating area so my legs don't try to stick. Very sturdy - will not tip over and I can only use the right side to lift up on (my left side is paralyzed by a stroke. The drop arms make it easy yo slide onto by myself from bed. Adjustable height is very useful for me, too. I'm quite tall so I need my equipment to be taller than "standard" heights. This is a sturdy piece of equipment and. Very good value for the money. Reasonably comfortable, but agsin, do get a cushion if you might be sitting on this for more than just a very few minutes. (Constipated or the opposite!). I find that my right leg starts going a bit numb after the nerve or whatever in my butt/upper thigh having been compressed while sitting on this commode for too long (longer than say five - 10 min.) and with no ability/strength to reposition myself since left arm and leg are paralyzed. It is the best bedside commode I have ever used and I've used several, having been in multiple hospitals and rehabs following my stroke. I paid out of pocket for this but insurance may cover it if your doctor writes a prescription for you - definitely check! It's worth the cash if you must pay out of pocket. Don't spare the expense. Pooping is difficult enough after a brain injury (bowels get very messed up!), or for those of us who have difficulty getting to the toilet / commode. At least buy a comfortable bedside commode!

I should caveat my review up front by saying that I was a 24/7 caregiver; as an able-bodied person I could, and did, help the sick person on and off the commode, empty it between uses, etc. I evaluated this commode from that perspective. This helped us immensely when we had a family member sick at home. A bedside commode was a lifesaver when they couldn’t safely get to or move around in the bathroom, even with help. This commode fit the bill very well. I read many of the critical reviews of this commode and all I can say is that we did not experience any of those problems. First, we used it as a standalone commode so I did not see its lack of a flip-down lid to cover the toilet as a problem. That would have been one more thing for me to worry about moving out of the way as I was helping a person with limited mobility get to the toilet. I was glad it was not there to worry about. Someone also gave this commode low marks because the bucket lid did not fit the toilet seat opening. It's not designed to; it’s designed to fit the bucket, which ours did properly. Again, as with a toilet seat lid I would not have used it to cover the seat between uses anyway, as it would have been one more thing for me to move. I also read that if you don't empty the bucket between uses it may get too heavy, fall off the commode and make a mess. Yuck! I would no more leave a commode bucket unemptied between uses than I would leave a toilet unflushed. Sorry, but that one did not seem like a design flaw to me. Finally, the drop-down arms were a must; they allow someone to slide from a wheelchair onto the commode if the side arms of each are dropped or removed. This worked just as it should. From my perspective the particular design elements of this unit are not flaws. Needs vary, and this one met ours. The bottom line to me was that it did what I wanted.
