Without the jar and lid—which is pictured everywhere, including on the product packaging—all this product is is an oddly shaped, short basting brush. It’s okay if you have your own jar to use it with, but if you don’t there is nothing really special about this brush that makes it different from any other silicone basting brush, some of which have longer handles, or come in sets, or have various other features to recommend them. So I guess the point of THIS brush is that you CAN use it with your own jar of basting liquid. But because of food hygiene, even that is problematic, as once the brush has touched raw meat you either have to wash it before it goes back in the jar, or discard the remainder of the liquid that might be left in the jar once you are done. For people that already have the right jars and lids to use, and who don’t mind the extra work needed for keeping things hygienic, this might be something that adds to your cooking experience more than it does to mine.

I got this for the bbq season, I wanted a brush I can put on my sauce jar and just keep going at it through a cook.You can use this on many different size jars as long as they have the standard lid type!Pros:1. Easy to clean brush2. Fit different size jars for different size cooks3. Easy to use, spreads sauce well4. looks nice and can go back in the fridge between cooks!Cons: None so farOver all, great product, I have really been enjoying it for my last 3 rib cooks and for when I needed to butter layers on pastry!

I like to oil my items before placing them on the bbq grill so nothing sticks. This Jarware basting brush is perfect for coating everything before placing them on the hot sizzling grill, and basting throughout the cooking process.I usually mix regular olive, vegetable oil, and a little sesame seed oil, with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, and smoked paprika. It’s a great way to season and prevent things for sticking to the grill at the same time.This handy little baster allows me to mix everything up, seal it, and store it in the fridge. This way I don’t have to recreate my seasoned oil mix every time I bbq. We had one Mason jar in our cupboard but it’s too tall. I’m planning on purchasing a smaller one next time I go shopping.My only consideration is that I’m not sure if I can purchase just one small Mason jar as they’re usually sold in sets of 8, 12, or 24 for pickling. I’m not going to purchase 8 jars just to use one…so I may end up visiting a thrift store to see if I can purchase a used one by itself. I do wish that it came with the jar and lid already! It would make things a lot easier! I removed one star because I’d rather have the jar included, even if it increased the price, than to have to run all over the place trying to find just one small Mason jar. That’s my only complaint!

Works really well however please note that the JAR IS NOT INCLUDED! Although the pictures show a jar, it is not included and it only states this in the fine print at last section of product description. As we already had some mason jars at home, it wasn't a big deal and worked for us right away. This is great for those home made sauces and oils but I would be careful if using on meats as once the brush is applied to the raw chicken or beef, you don't want to put the brush back into the jar unless you wash it. As I make thicker bbq sauces, I just use this silicone basting brush to mix the sauce around in the jar so it doesn't get clumpy. I will then pour what I want to use on a separate dish/container where I would use a second basting brush to apply the sauce directly on the meat. This would also work great on brushing melted butter on pastries, veggies, or even bread. The only reason I gave it a four star is because it doesn't clearly say that the jar is not included. Other than that, it is a good idea and handy to have in and around the kitchen.

I used this once in a mason jar filled with homemade bbq sauce. I basted some pork ribs, and it did a good job. But I realized after that I have to wash the brush every time I use it before I can put it back in the jar, or it will contaminate the rest of the sauce. Very inconvenient. I do not recommend using this for meats or you'll be spending a lot of time cleaning.

I thought the jar was included but it wasn't, this silicone brush fits my regular mouth jars perfectly. You can even put the metal ring on too. This silicone brush is perfect for putting a seasoning or oil onto meat or spreading icing on cinnamon buns.It's a good quality and hasn't fallen apart yet. It's relatively easy to wash too! The top seals onto the jar and there are no leaks. I don't know if I'll use a jar to store oil I'll probably use the silicone brush as needed.
