The shorter shank came in handy with some projects that allowed me to drive in the pocket hole screws

These bits are a must have if you use the number 2 robertson. They hold very nicely in a drill and also hold screws very tight. High recommend and will purchase again when I need more.

Most screw bit adapters out there have full hex shaped shanks. Which is not a problem, unless reaching into a deep space for the screw, when the shaft might contact something else while spinning and cause damage/scratches. That's why I like the Kreg bits: they have full round shafts that are smooth enough to not ding other surfaces when accidental contact is made.Otherwise, they fit all of my #2 Robertson (Square-Drive) screws just fine, and can be magnetized for better holding of the screws if desired.

Good set of bits for working with pocket screws. However, found the shorter bit to not be terribly useful. When joining bigger panels, you need the longer bit to give your drill/driver access to the screw.

The 6-inch bit is the same as the bit that came with my K5 jig. Works fine.Sometimes that bit is too long. Happened to me again today while repairing some drawers. With the 3-inch bit I easily finished installing the screws. I could have used a right-angle head as an adapter but that gets awkward. It's not fast, either. The 3-inch bit was worth the price of both bits. After 3 years i finally had to write this review. Today was not the first time I have been glad I bought these bits. Plan ahead so you are not stranded when you need a short driver bit. This is a very inexpensive gift for a woodworker with a Kreg K4 or K5 jig. Nice Christmas stocking stuffer or Fathers' Day present. Sooner or later they WILL need the short bit. Having a spare long bit is good insurance, too.

What's nice about these bits compared to others that I own is that these have round shanks. Sometimes I need to use these right next to a surface - the hex shank bits can damage the surface, the round shanks are less likely to to. If you need to steady the bit while driving a screw it's a lot easier to do that with a round shaft bit.As far as durability goes these are as good as any others I've used. Just make sure the bit is properly lined up with the screw and they'll last a long time
