Your cart is empty.The Makita Plunge Base Set (196094-2) is an ideal accessory for Makita's line of compact routers, their 18V LXT Lithium‑Ion Brushless Cordless model XTR01Z and their 1‑1/4 HP Corded model, RT0701C. The Plunge Base features a plunge capacity range of 0 in. to 1-3/8 in. for easy penetration into the work piece. The fine depth adjustment has three preset depth stops for added precision. For added versatility, the Makita Plunge Base accepts industry standard template guides.

For the Makita mini router, there's no getting around having this. Some router bits are too big for the plunger that's included with the tool, which is ANNOYING, but understandable. Impressive precision, easy to use and still fits in the small tool bag I use to hold the tool and accessories.

I've had a Makita cordless trim router for over a year, and for while I hesitated buying the plunge base because of the exhorbitant price for it in Canada. However, I was working on something where a plunge router was really what was called for, and my 15 amp plunge router was in a table ("some dsassembly required"), so I decided to bit the bullet and get it.It is very nice. Smooth plunge action. Three-choice turret. Fine adjust for plunge depth. Lock lever to lock it at a given plunge depth. Solid grip on router body. I've already (mostly) forgotten about the rip-off Canadian price. (A disadvantage of not living close to the US border so you can skip over and get it for only a bit more than 1/2 of the Canadian price.)

Fantastic addition to my trim router. Having the ability to plunge to preset (adjustable) depths is really nice and helps increase efficiency when using the same bit for different parts of a workpiece. Not sure if it’s mentioned but you can lock the plunge base in place which I find handy. The handles allow for more controlled movement compared to the standard base that came with my trim router. Great purchase!

I knew before receiving this item that I’d use my trim router a lot more. The Makita actually has quite a bit of power, and with this base it’s so much more than just a trim router. You can sneak up on a depth with the three depth settings. The straight edge makes it easy to press against a straight edge and get nice dados and grooves. Must have if you own the trim router.

There was some product bracing missing in the box, this allowing the plunger base to flop around inside the box, lucky the product was not damaged. Also missing instructions and warranty papers. Mine may have been a returned product.

If you have the correct router this is a really well made plunge base. One thing to keep in mind as hole the package is not any cheaper then full size router keep this in mind when buying the router but palm router in my opinion it is a must before the heavier version . It is much easier to handle it is lighter and will do most of the things a full size router will do.

Solidly built plunge base ,smooth plunge action. Accepts template guides for Full size Makita routers . Get the makita 321492-3 template guide adapter or even the cheaper shop fox template guide adapter and you can use the porter cable template guides for versatility.👍
