I own this engineers scale in both metric and imperial. Hold one of these and one hand and a cheap steel ruler in the other and you will see why they are more expensive. Rigid, nice weight, smooth ground edges and clear accurate markings that are engraved not printed. Treat it with respect and it will last forever. Worth every penny and a pleasure to use.

This metric rule is extremely well made: accurate, readable, thick enough to be sturdy and rigid but not heavy. The best feature is having the numbers run in opposite directions on the left and right sides and to have them on both faces of the ruler. Taking measurements is much more efficient!

I purchased one recently and it had slightly rounded corners at one end of the ruler. Exchanged it for another one which also has 3 defects.1) The length is 150.06mm when measured with a Mitutoyo calipers because both ends weren't machined precisely enough. The difference is noticeable when compared side by side with my Made in Japan Shinwa JIS Grade 1 rulers which are much cheaper.2) The widths are 18.88mm on one end and 18.94mm on the other. It's 0.06mm difference which is obvious for very precise work. My Shinwa Grade 1 rulers are dead accurate.3) Both corners on one end of the ruler have raised sharp edges which were caused by the cropping machine. Shouldn't they be filed precisely afterwards?This is a well designed ruler with nice material but the workmanship is lacking, rather surprising considered all the rave reviews.

Nice ruler. I like that it reads left to right on one side and right to left on the other. I wish more rules were like that.
