These are a great size, not too big and not too small. My betta loves them. As soon as I show him the bag, he comes rushing up to the top and waits to be fed. After feeding, he still sits at the top waiting for more. LOL

My child and I bought our very first Betta fish along with a small aquatic tank and a "premium" brand of flakes bought in a chain pet store. Within the first month, it looks dying, lying afloat on its side, and struggling for days. Thought we failed our first care, but I decided to rescue it. In research for the cause, I threw the other-brand flake container away. I gave my little fish an epsom therapy and tried this North Fin product. In a few days, my fish came back alive in great health and continues to be active for the next few months now. My betta fish gobble all pellets (unlike the other brand which my fish sometimes spitted out). The pellet size is great. I have no problem with how long the pellets stay afloat because I just drop one pellet for the fish to gobble before I drop another one for a couple of minutes. It's a good way to spend time with fish though.

Oh Canada! Love to find a Canadian made and also a high quality food for my betta. Thank you North Fin. My betta happily accepts this food and chomps it down with no issue. I make sure he is aware it’s feeding time before dropping the pellet in so the sinking issue can be avoided. No missed pellets yet and his colours are glorious - see photo. At the store he was plain white and after a week on this food he is just glowing. Great ingredients, no fillers. Try it out - totally worth it!

I read the reviews but thought I would try it anyway because it seems to have great ingredients. Unless your fish is waiting and ready to dive, I wouldn't recommend. Our one betta rarely gets to them before they sink so they will mostly get vacuumed out during cleaning and go to waste. I'm sure the food quality is there but they are gone to the bottom before the fish can eat them. If you have a bottom feeder then these would be great.

Ordered this after seeing it recommended in forums because it isn’t mostly made of fish meal and fillers like other betta food brands. I had only had my betta for 4 days before trying this and had already tried 2 other types of food which he would just spit out and ignore. The first time I fed him this he did the same thing but since the second time he is absolutely ravenous for it and can’t get enough. Within 2 days of eating it he learned to swim up to exactly where I feed him as soon as I sit at my desk and he just stares at me until I give him some because he loves it so much. I would be careful to not overfeed them because of this because I’m sure he’d eat more than he actually needs. Size is great too because one of the other brands I tried seemed way too big for his mouth but this one is really small and perfect. There’s also way more in the bag than you’d think and I wouldn’t be surprised if this one bag lasted his whole life.

My fish like this food, and eagerly eat it, good size for a betta. Only downside is it sinks really fast and the fish are not always able to get it because it sinks so fast.

Update 10/12/17: I have been feeding this food every other day in combination with another food and my bettas have been very active, colorful, curious, alert, and had no issues of bloat. This food is one of the best, I have done a lot of research trying to find good food for my fishes and here is why this food in my opinion is good. First Omega One Betta Buffet pellets, I read reviews and reviews of others swearing by this food so I took a look at the ingredients the 2 things that were a big red flag is that Omega One food has BHT and BHA preservatives which have been known to promote tumor growth. I have no idea why Omega One is praised so highly I've read so many bad things about these preservatives and rather not risk it. So Omega One was out, then I took a look at New Life Spectrum. Now New Life Spectrum is a good food, one of the best that is until the company decided to change it. The food is no longer the right size for a betta which is the problem, it doesn't matter how good the food is if the fish can't eat it so until this issue is fixed I cannot recommend New Life Spectrum Betta Formula but only the betta formula. Some say to feed live, raw, or frozen but there are several risk that comes with those types of foods like parasites it can also be too rich and unbalanced to use as a daily diet for bettas that are not show or breeders. On top of that it can be more time consuming, expensive, and make a mess causing the tank to become polluted. Remember these are not wild fish these are domesticated so I rather use a pellet type food as a main diet and bloodworms as a once a week treat. Northfin not only has good ingredients compared to others but the size is perfect for any betta even my younger female betta can eat these no problem and she is about a little over an inch long. I've also been feeding this food without soaking and have not had any bloat problems with my fishes. I've had no issues with this food sinking before my bettas can eat it but I feed my bettas with a long stick and gently place the pellets in the water this also train my bettas to follow the stick in case I need to catch them in a cup to remove them from their tanks this way I never need to net them.
