So, I've been having issues with my williams wall heater. It's an upright gas powered one. It was installed brand new about 6 years ago. For 6 years, it was giving me a ton of issues. I youtubed a bunch of vids and: 1) confirmed it was venting, 2) cleaned the inside and exit, 3)replaced thermostat, 4) replaced high limit switch. 5) hired a good amount of "professionals" 6) eventually bought this one.For years, I had to repeatedly press the high limit switch button with a chop stick...went through a handful of them, too, as I have kids who would take and lose them. The replacement (oem factory) cost nearly $70.00 USD for a penny-sized switch. That failed almost immediately (which I didn't know that that's what happened).Went through forums and watched other videos on different types of gas furnaces....That's when I got the idea to either 1) bypass the limit switch altogether or 2) buy this $12 (possible piece of junk).Option 1 seemed the most logical one, but I did not want to risk burning my house down. It's when I came across a google search about the limit switch not being able to withstand the heat, thus causing it to break. So, I looked up what the OEM specs were and it was within 120-180 degrees F or so. It must have meant my furnace was well within this range thus cooking the switch.I decided to find a similar switch that had a higher limit. I don't recall but I think this one can withstand up to ~210-240 degrees F ish?Either way, long story longer was, I bought it because I was tired of having my young children suffer in cold temperatures.Since the day I bought it til now, the furnace has had zero issues. It has never tripped once. I keep the temp between 72-78 degrees F. Recently I've kept it about 80 degrees bc my wife and children are sick.Moral of the story is, if you have a williams upright wall heater/furnace, ditch the oem limit switch and get this one. You'll thank yourself a million times over.
