You can't see the inside but it is not a star pattered attachment to the spindle. Finally called a plumber to replace he had a adaptor that was star to smooth for most replacement handles.

This one fit my cartridge perfectly. The screw well on the Danco 88391 was to shallow. Beware it's just the knob, no screw or screw cover. I still had them from the broken knob.
