Our Story
At Guard Your ID we are passionate about helping individuals protect their personal information. It is this desire to help that led us to develop the first identity protection stamp in July 2006, and why we continue to evolve and develop new identity tools today. One example of this evolution would be the Guard Your ID Advanced 2.0 Roller family. The specially formulated, oil-based ink of this roller is water-resistant, light-resistant, chemical resistant, clear, dark, and quick-drying. It can be applied to not only regular paper, but to most glossy surfaces.
Our journey in creating the unique Guard Your ID Stamp pattern took several years. Over 100 patterns were tested during this process, and we finally emerged with the powerful, patented pattern we use today. The letters A, B, E, G, H, K, M, V, W, X were chosen based on their limited white space, and the letters were turned, angled, and positioned just right to offer the maximum coverage.

Why is shredded paper an issue?
It is hard to believe, since we all think recycling shredded paper would be helpful to the environment, but in actuality, shredded paper is very difficult to recycle. In fact, many recycling and waste centers will not even accept shredded paper and will send it directly to the landfill.
Why is shredded paper so difficult to recycle? Shredding paper into small pieces destroys the long fiber lengths, and makes the paper virtually unusable in the recycling process. It degrades the quality of the paper, increasing costs and complicating the system. The small strips wreak havoc on the recycling facilities, falling through their screens, getting mixed up with other recycled materials, and basically making a huge mess.
Guard Your ID Rollers offer a greener alternative to shredding. They are an easy, less time-consuming solution that assists, instead of burdening, the recycling process.

I first purchased this "Advanced Wide" roller and it works great on normal office paper, as well as glossy mailing labels and prescription bottles. You do have to give it time to dry on glossy surfaces. It will easily wipe off it you try to do so while it's still wet, but give it some time to dry, and it's smudge free.We leave this wide one in the kitchen drawer.I wanted a smaller version to keep in the desk drawer, so ordered the three pack of narrower rollers to keep around the house.Note that there are several options in purchasing these rollers.They come in regular and "Advanced" versions, AND normal and wide width sizes.In this case, "advanced" does not mean "wide". The "Advanced" version works on office and glossy papers and the regular just works on normal printer paper.Normal width will cover typical envelope/header information in one swipe, and the wide will cover larger areas like info on a mailing label.If you want this to cover on glossy papers/labels, make sure you get the "Advanced" version.Both the wide and regular widths of Advanced rollers work on glossy paper, shipping labels and prescription bottle labels as well as regular office paper.One thing to note, is that the premise of obscuring your name & address, is based on the random markings of this roller.It's meant to obscure ... not cover.Swiping this once over your address does an excellent job to obscure your information.Rolling it back and forth, over and over, eventually results in just covering your information in a solid black coat which then allows your information to show through underneath.Less is more, in this case. Think camouflage rather than paint over.I've since purchased another 3-pack of these so I can have one anywhere I need one.I keep one in the garage next to the mail slot so I can toss junk mail straight into the recycle bin without having to bring it into the house first, one in the entry console table so I can swipe out delivery labels as soon as I get them, and one in the office.I know shredding is a more secure way to protect your address information and we do have a shredder for more personal and financial documents. My use of these are just for home personal mailings and address labels, and for that purpose, these work great.

Honestly, this thing has made life so much easier. With all of the packages I'm ordering these days (thanks COVID), I appreciate that the ink is able to stick to various types of packaging material without smudging (once you give it some time to dry). For documents, this gadget saves me from having to use the shredder so much. I really do get a little feeling of joy every time I use. Hey, small victories. :)

I purchased this in 2016 and have just purchased a second one. These are great for protecting your identity. This one will also dry and stick on shiny labels such as Amazon’s. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to remove personal information without having to use a shredder.

This is a great little device for blacking out confidential information. It rolls easily over labels on pill bottles and has worked on every surface to which I've applied it. With this roller, one doesn't require a shredder, so it saves on space and electricity.There is a strong chemical smell from the ink, and it can take a while for the ink to dry. Watch your fingers - the ink does smear, but it comes off with some scrubbing. Don't leave it where a pet or small child could play with it.
