I've installed four mini splits myself and this little gauge is perfect if you're just looking to pull a vacuum. Here are the steps I use...1. Hook one outlet to adapter at service port and other to vacuum pump.2. Open the ball valve.3. Pull a vacuum and let it sit to ensure it holds.4. If vacuum is tight, close off the valve.5. Open lines then quickly disconnect adapter from service port.About as simple of a DIY install as you can get.
