Wiring instructions for use

  1. Connect the power cord, ensure that the forward and reverse switch is located in the middle zero position, connect the DC power supply, ensure that the DC power supply voltage range is greater than 10V, less than 30V, ensure that the power output power to meet the motor's operating requirements. DC power supply positive and negative terminals do not reverse, otherwise the controller may be damaged.
  2. Connect the motor, the motor line can not be divided into positive and negative.
  3. Adjustment switch, positive and negative switch is used to control the direction of the motor speed, when the switch is located in the zero position, the motor stops.
  4. Potentiometer knob, adjust the potentiometer knob can change the output duty cycle of the governor, the motor speed change.

Using 0-10V external voltage control wiring instructions.

This controller supports the use of external DC voltage control speed control, use the following steps.

  1. Remove the potentiometer (you can decide to remove it from one side of the board or the potentiometer side according to your needs.
  2. Connect the 0-10V DC control signal to the center pin of the potentiometer.
  3. Connect the ground wire of 0-10V DC control signal to the right pin of the potentiometer.

it worked good for 10 minutes ,then burned up, the wires are very small.

I had already used RioRand's model with the attached dial before deciding to use this unit. This unit worked just as well as the one with the fixed dial and allowed me to be a little more strategic in building my homebrew model train controller. I suppose it's been a long time since I've messed around with stuff like this, but I am truly amazed that something so inexpensive and insubstantial works so well. Has worked flawlessly for me, although, as I noted in my review for the unit with the fixed dial, the dial itself is small and feels a little inexact.

Revised. This is a good controller, but I have edited this review to deduct one star for the noise. In all other respects it worked really well, but at lower speeds it does generate a whine that is loud enough to become annoying after awhile. Other than that, for my application of the controlling speed and direction of a 17V Buehler gearhead motor it functions smoothly. The board is neat, well laid out and has excellent soldering. The heat sinks on both the MC7812 voltage regulator and the 7575C NFET chip are substantial and should easily handle any heat rise which should be minimal for my application. I particularly liked that both the pot and the direction switch are mounted on wire connectors which makes panel installation simple. As seems common, this regulator has a large heat shrink shroud covering the direction switch terminals which had to be removed to fit into the panel opening. However, since the wires are individually attached to the board at a screw terminal it was simple to remove the shroud and add heat shrink to each wire. The board can be mounted in any convenient spot and the two wiring connectors have plenty of length (about 6 – 7”) to reach the panel.Overall, I found this to be an excellent PWM motor controller providing smooth speed and direction control, and provided that the low whine is not a problem for you as it really is not for me, then it should be a good choice.

Convenient and useful mini DC power supply. The terminal blocks make connection of input and output wiring straightforward. The speed control pot (and particularly the knob) and the switch are pretty dinky although electrically well within their capacity. I'm using it as a controller for a homemade milling machine X-axis power traverse motor. I'll replace the knob with something a little larger for easier control. The supplied switch is useful in most applications. The switch is actually more useful that it would appear. A large piece of shrink wrap tubing has been applied over the switch body and terminals. This does insulate the terminals. The shrink wrap also hides the fact that the switch body is of a design that will snap into a properly sized rectangular opening in a sheet metal panel with no further fasteners required. To use it this way you would have to cut off the shrink wrap, disconnect the switch wires from the terminal block and insert the switch from the outside of the panel opening and snap it into place. You would then, of course, reconnect the switch wiring to the PCB prior to use. Because of the application described above I am going to replace the switch with a bat handle toggle switch with a rubber cover. The bat handle switch position is much easier to see than the small black rocker toggle supplied with the product.
