The chalk doesn't stay in at all and the line doesn't even absorb chalk you can't snap lines. It's also 1/4 the size of any other chalk line. The line also falls off the spool every time you wind it up. I frame for a living so I know how to use a chalk line and this is garbage I tossed it the first day in the garbage

Do you really need a dry line? Maybe. Does it require a video to figure out how to use it properly? Yes (everything is in Japanese). Is it great to have? Also yes. Much more convenient than jamming a nail in the wall to run a straight line and far less damage owning to the needle points. Excellent for trim work where you want a true line across a wall or room. Can you do it with a laser? Yes, but this is cheaper.

The reel is smooth, the line is very thin and precise. The pin works just perfect. I'm very happy with it.
