I bought this primarily due to the dedicated subwoofer output with built-in high and low pass filters. It works very well. After use I believe their claims for power output.

The SMSL A300 is a great little amp that delivers solid sound quality. Not very neutral sound but brings out all the details, especially in the bass where you can really feel those string vibrations. Unlike other amps around the same price that I have tried, it doesn't muddle things up with too much bass, it keeps it tight and responsive. The midrange is clear and detailed without any weird digital sounds, and the highs are crisp without being too sharp, in fact, it tamed my bright speakers a bit. While it might not blow you away with huge dynamic swings, it handles the smaller details with ease, making your music sound lively and engaging. Plus, the soundstage is nice and open, so you can pick out all the different instruments easily. Overall, it's a solid all-rounder that works well with any type of music. And for this price range, it is well worth the purchase.

I picked up this unit for the first time.I had Issues with the display sent it back. ( equalizers E began looking like C missing the middle line. Unt sounded great but I was worried that problems might occur so sent the unit back. I reordered because I loved the sound. Received the second unit hooked it up very disappointing because I couldn’t get the unit to volume up. I maxed the volume and it sounded like it didn’t get up to half of what the first unit put out. Very disappointing. Sent it back I will not. Re order the third unit. I m thinking micro processing isn’t the way to go my opinion. With these problems already occurring how long will this unit last even if it does work properly

I decided to go to electronic crossovers for my main stereo, via a Dayton Audio DSP4x8, which includes software based EQ and up to four e-X.O.s per channel in a stereo setup. I needed a smallish amp to handle the treble or mid + treble, depending on the speaker. I was going to buy a cheap Class D amp with modest output for the high-freq duties, but then I saw this model and discovered it has an electronic high-pass filter (50 Hz, 12dB/oct) that blocks subwoofer frequencies (below 50 Hz) from the main speaker outputs, sending the bottom octave only to the subwoofer out jack. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It really doesn't make a big audible difference in the bass region, but it does wonders for midrange and treble, as well as imaging and sound-staging. It was such an obvious improvement, it was like a speaker upgrade. Not having to play the lowest octave takes a huge burden away from smaller (I am going to use the new A300 with full-range or smaller two-way speakers (along with a Klipsch active 10" sub), and will move my AO200 Mk II over for mid/high duties with the DSP, while a pair of Sabaj A20a monoblocks power the bigger woofers in my bi-amped rig. The high-pass feature is worth the purchase price of the A300 just for the sonic improvement it brings. As far as sound goes it is basically the same as the AO200 Mk II - excellent for the price.

This is a class-leading product and also gets very positive reviews on Audio Science website (and they are tough reviewers). I had an issue with my order, and I received very fast and helpful support from the vendor. Happy to recommend this product and the seller.

You will notice there is no information about Bluetooth formatting with this unit. This unit will not play Tidal, so I am limited to standard res BT which is the main reason I bought it-- thus 4 stars. Other than that this unit performs spectacularly-- SPECTACULARLY. I also own Accuphase, Bryston, Naim Audio, JBL, Magnepan, Castle Winchester, REL, Cambridge, Bluesound and others, so this is not a light endorsement.

MY USAGE:I use this amp with my vintage Mission Freedom speakers and a Modi+ DAC. Wow! This amp easily produces 85 dB of full range sound with punchy lows and smooth high frequencies. It replaces a generic Fosi Class D amp. Surprisingly large upgrade for only a few dollars more.WHAT I DON'T USE:- I don't plan to ever use the Bluetooth input. I want CD quality or higher sources so BT is never on my list.- I won't be using the USB input either. I like my external DAC and route all digital sources through it.- I have no plans to use bridge mode.PROS:- Enough power to produce 85+ dBA in my 20' x 20' room with circa 1985 floor standing speakers.- Decent EQ presets. Includes "tone control" EQ option where you can customize bass and treble.- Overall sound is better than the half dozen other Chinese Class D amps I have tried. IMHO: All these amps were decent. This one is just better.- Good IR remote. Simple access to every feature.- The menu system is surprisingly straight forward and easy to navigate.- Amp quickly powers up to last chosen input. Silent start up (no speaker woof!) - like it should be.- Display always returns to showing volume number (out of 60). Big enough to see from across the room.- Two RCA inputs are nice-to-have. Handy for doing quick A+B source comparisons.CONS:- Two character display makes it hard to decode things like EQ mode and a few other settings. But that is also part of the fun :). I needed to read the 5 page manual to figure out all the options.- I would have preferred a proper volume "knob". The recessed thumbwheel is just OK. I use the remote 95% of the time so no big deal.- Like most cheap Class D amps: No balance control.
