Was able to plug this into the display port on my GPU and plug my DVI cable into my monitor in order to run the monitor at 144hz refresh rate. Worked exactly as advertised and is a well built product.

Following an upgraded video card which lacks DVI ports, I needed an adapter to connect to my older Dell 3007. This is one of the few displays that supports the 16:10 aspect ratio. The Star Tech DP to DVI dual link fully supported the display at 2560x1600. It may be expensive but it works.I previously tried the Club3D adapter, but it failed due to garbage on the screen.Ultimately the old rule “you get what you pay for” applies here.Remember, if your display requires DVI dual link, you need a powered port adapter to convert the DP (Display port) signal to DVI dual link. Single link DVI maxes out at 1920x1200 60hz. The Star Tech is the best option for this task.

Using this with a BenQ XL2411z and an RTX 3080. As you can only get 144hz via DVI on this monitor, I needed to buy an active adapter as the 3080 no longer has DVI.I was concerned I wouldn't be able to make a customer resolution to do the 1502 VT tweak for increased brightness with blur reduction on (@120hz), however that worked fine. The only difference I notice with this adapter is when you wake the PC from sleep or just turn it on, if you look very closely you can see the screen is a bit fuzzy or there's some noise on the picture, but this soon goes away and is less noticeable the darker the screen.Video and games have worked fine, not run into any other issues and I've been using it for a couple months now. It's a bit pricey, but cheaper than replacing it with something similar or an upgrade.

Handles Displayport to DVI 1080p at 120 HZ just fine.Price is a bit high, but if you're stuck on what monitor to buy, or the monitor you want isn't in stock (looking at you 2020), then breathing new life into your old monitor may be just right for you. Some people have reported issues with waking your screen from a cold start. Personally I only experienced an issue the first time I switched my displayport to 119.XXX Hz (blurry/degraded graphics/monitor complaining about refresh rate), but after switching disay inputs on my monitor once to try and "kick it", I have not experienced any issues. Now, putting the display into standby, or powering off my desktop and leaving the display in standby, and then powering on my desktop all work flawlessly, with no extra steps involved.Works great with Linux too!

Finally! a display port to dvi adapter that will drive an old school cinema display at 2560x1600. I plugged the addapter into my evga 1080 graphic card, plugged the usb power dongle into a usb port on back of my computer, then plugged the monitor cord into the adapter and SUCCESS! the cinema monitor now shows up on my windows 'display settings' (right click desktop to open)in the attached picture, the apple cinema display on the right is directly connected to the graphic card and the diplay on the left is connected through the adapter.there's one odd thing that happens, when first starting up the computer or waking from sleep, the adapter-connected monitor will flash black three times. maybe this is related to how it draws power from the usb? it scared the crap out of me the first time it happened, but after the three flashes to black, that monitor functions flawlessly for as long as the computer is on.i'm so happy that this product works! now i don't have to have an extra graphic card heating up my computer! the internal temps are cooler. also, freed up a couple pci slots to use for other things.this adapter isn't cheap, but it works--so worth every penny, in my opinion. :)ps--if playing games, i use the monitor directly connected to the graphic card. so i have no idea if the adapter would effect fps/quality.4 MONTH UPDATE: adapter still does the "flash black" a couple times when turned on, but then works flawlessly. seems to have no adverse effect when playing games on another monitor plugged directly into the same graphic card, no lose of framerate, etc. I'm very happy!

I upgraded my graphics card after my old one died and my new graphics card did not have a DVI port in it. Seeing as my BenQ XL2411Z only supports a DVI connection for 144hz- I was looking all over the internet for a solution. DVI is a 90s standard so it's not very common to find an adapter that connects 90s technology to the latest and greatest graphics cards.Fortunately, I stumbled across this product and it is perfect. Supports 144hz amazingly with 0 input lag and successfully connects my monitor to my new card. Can't say enough good things about the product other than the fact it is a little expensive, but no doubt in my mind I will use it for years to come.Comes packaged immaculately, feels extremely high quality. Would definitely recommend for anyone with a similar problem.

In case anyone else is wondering if this works for this use-case, it doesn’t. Bought this to get an older high res Dell 3007WFP monitor working with a 2017 MacBook Pro. Since the MacBook has only USB-C we also bought a DisplayPort to USB-C adapter. Had to return both as the combo didn’t work. Could not get anything to appear on the monitor. Disappointed. The monitor is still great, high res, nice & big, but can’t find a solution to getting it to work with the MacBook Pro.

About 1 1/2 yrs ago I purchased a 144hz monitor, it was the ACER GN246HL. About a year a go I had to get a beefy laptop for a college program I'm currently enrolled in. I ended up get high end specs at the time for a somewhat affordable gaming laptop. The CPU is the i7 7700HQ paired with the GTX 1060 GPU. I was super excited to plug in my 144hz monitor the day I bought it. Looking back, I probably should've returned it seeing as though my intention was to run a 144hz external display for gaming...I contacted GIGABYTE saying the 144hz monitor wouldn't be functional with the P57 because it simply didn't output the 144hz frequency or wasn't capable to. To avoid dragging on this review...I purchased this adapter and finally allowed me to game / browser in glorious 144hz - maybe not all laptops will operate as mine did with this adapter, and hell it may still die...as of now though this adapter is perfect for my needs to run a 144hz external display on a laptop.A side note: I recommend adapting a different solution to provide it power rather than using your usb port on your laptop - as mine was choppy until I plugged it into an old phone charger box which can be plugged into the wall. It seems to be getting sufficient power now and is just as stable as my old build which got replaced by this beast of a laptop. It's worth a shot I just said screw it, because at the end of the day, if it doesn't function properly - return it.I hope this helps someone in the same predicament I was in for the past year.Goodluck on your journey.

Although it works with 144Hz, honestly it would be better to just buy a new monitor entirely. There are always some glitches that you need to put up with, such as randomly flickering, random disconnecting, sometimes it even changes the refresh rate by itself. If you can get over those, you then need to face the fact that they were quite expensive. Spend the extra 300 dollars and get a better monitor.

Works well mostly. Every now and then it requires a reboot. I needed it to support a DVI only KVM to drive a 2160 display from a DP only device.
