Very soft foam, enough to leave imprints after a workout (pops back up eventually). Mine was cut slightly crooked against the grain, but it's not an issue really.Slightly thin but enough to do the job. It doesn't scream "best that money can buy", but for those of you who want to do a few home exercises once in a while, this is a solid buy at the price.
