The best thing about this is that you can limit the output cables to a single USB-C cable per computer. If you want to limit your cable tangle mess, this is a boon. I'm using it with a MacBook Pro, a Mac Mini, and a stupid Dell for work (yeuck) and it has been working fine. Occasionally, my MacBook wants me to confirm that I really do want to use this USB device, but that's rare. Most of the time everything works flawlessly.Compact enough, functional enough, and I'm even finding the remote control more useful than I'd expected.

Advertised as a 3 port USB-C KVM switch with power pass through on Port 1. 3 USB-A ports, one of which is 2.0.Well, the pair of USB-A ports are marked for keyboard and mouse. But if I plug them in, the keyboard isn't recognized. I moved the keyboard to the USB2.0 port and it's recognized there. My webcam isn't recognized on the USB ports marked for keyboard and mouse. And it doesn't matter which pair of those ports I use, it's a problem. All 3 ports should function.As for power passthrough, you still have to plug in an additional power supply for the USB-C 1 input to provide power to the device. My laptop recognized that it was plugged in but reported a problem in charging. So maybe the battery wasn't draining, but it sure wasn't charging.For sound, I plugged my external speakers into the KVM switch. It showed up on my computer as "LG Ultrawide" presumably because it detects the monitor, which is HDMI, as the output choice instead of the KVM switch. The KVM of course outputs to the speakers via the headphone jack. But I then have no volume control from the computer itself. And obviously the monitor controls don't work for this. I could move the speakers to the monitor output jack instead but I like being able to control volume from the computer keyboard.The USB problem may be a result of a defect in this specific switch. But the functionality leaves a lot to be desired. It's probably getting packed up and sent back. I've already lost almost 2 hours to setting this thing up. I bought this to simplify my life and so far it's the opposite.

For the past 10 months, I have mostly kept my Windows laptop mounted to the wall behind my desk. it shares a keyboard and monitor with my Mac Mini desktop machine.I had been switching between the two by separately connecting a USB cable for the keyboard, switching between inputs on my monitor, and using a separate mouse. This was a bit cumbersome, but the keyboard and mouse worked okay. The monitor was the part that really gave me difficulty. Sometimes, the monitor would flicker for many seconds after switching, or even fail to switch, and go black, requiring me to pull out my laptop from behind the desk and open the screen.Finally I decided to get a KVM switch to ease my troubles. I had been advised that this might help with the monitor issue. But not all KVM switches are equal in that regard. This particular brand, although more expensive, provides emulation so that both computers act as if they are always connected to the monitor, making the switch work cleanly. I haven't tried the cheaper KVM switches, so it's possible they would work for this use case too, but I doubt it based on the reviews I've read.The KVM switch came with what appear to be high quality cables, a power cord, and a remote control. Remote control requires AAA batteries, not included. It also has keyboard shortcut and mouse shortcut functionality, so there are many options for convenient switching.Everything was pretty much plug and play. I had to reboot my mac after connection because I use third party software to control my mouse acceleration, which did not work right on the initial plug in.The design is nice, too. All the cables come out the back, which helps a lot with cable management. (Some other products I looked at had cables coming out both front and back.)One of my pet peeves in Electronics design is unnecessary LED lights that can't be turned off.It has a few LED indicator lights but they serve a practical purpose, showing you which devices are online and which is currently selected. That being said, I don't really need that function so I might cover them with electric tape.Responsiveness is fine for business and leisure computing, I haven't noticed a difference from a direct connection. I haven't tested it for gaming yet. I'm a pretty mediocre Starcraft II player, so I doubt I'll notice a difference, but if you are a highly skilled player of speed-based computer games, you might want to research further to make sure this meets your needs.

I was searching for a proper solution to my 3 machine station and this solved everything. I was previous using one docking station with 3 usb-c cables and swapping them out for each computer. This started to result in cable wear and plug wear and inconsistent connections. So I searched high and low and found this gem and it solved all my problems. I have all 3 machines plugged in via usb-c for all my peripherals and one monitor output. I have an entire streaming setup daisy chained to a usb powered hub and that hub is plugged into the non keyboard and mouse usb 2.0 port and one monitor out and everything works perfectly. Definition of plug and play at best. If this product every breaks I’ll be sure to buy another!!!

After much searching and product trials, this is the only usb-c kvm switch with EDID support available on Amazon. Other usb-c kvm switches do not provide the correct display information to the inactive computer, meaning that the computer will go to sleep when not switched to active--especially MacBooks. This thing keeps the lights on for all connected computers and switches instantly and, even better, it translates 4k displays beautifully (the best I've tried). There are three things I do not like: (1) the size. Other kvms have smaller profiles and more features (unfortunately, not EDID); (2) for this price it should have a competent power supply for charging the computers. It allows you to connect one power supply to support one system. I like this feature because it frees up a usb-c port on my mac, but I shouldn't have to plug my own supply into it to get power. And, (3) it is way overpriced for the amount of features. It would also be nice if it had some of the other ancillary features other units do (like thunderbolt 4, memory stick ports, and charging). I would trade the third computer port for any of these features, as I have no use for it. All said, it gets four stars because it is well built and does what it is supposed to do and does it good.

I got this switch to replace a DP unit that did not support EDID emulation. Emulation on this unit works pretty well. Displays are indeed kept alive, making switching speeds relatively fast and not causing windows to be rearranged every time.The USB keyboard port does not work for me with a Corsair K70 RGB Pro, which is disappointing. My keyboard works fine using the standard USB port but this prevents the use of Hotkey switching, which is also disappointing. This model is advertised "newer", supporting gaming keyboards, and having improved keyboard support, yet it does not work with a current and common keyboard model. My mouse works fine with the USB mouse port but I have not tried mouse gesture switching.The housing is metal and feels sturdy. The form factor is a bit odd, having angels on the top and sides. I would have preferred a standard rectangular shape for ease of stacking etc.LED's are blue, which I dislike. LED's are reasonably bright and appear to have some diffusion, which is good. This unit replaced another that had very bright water clear blue LED's that hurt me eyes, so this is a welcome change.Power is provided via proper power supply using a standard DC barrel jack connector, which is very good.Overall I would recommend this KVM if you want quick display switching and do not care about using keyboard hotkeys.

With many people now having to work from home, and have an office laptop and a home computer, things on the coffee table can get cramped! I did not know these KVM thingys existed until i did a google search. Once I saw the many styles and types of them (both cheap and very expensive), i did a bit of research. I am so glad a spent a few extra bucks and got this quality product. It could not be any easier to hook up... a novice can do it. Plug in all cables (supplied) according to the diagram, fire everything up,...boom.. you now have only 1 keyboard and 1 monitor for your computers. The quality of this unit is solid also... looks, performs and feels like the real deal. Switches and LEDs are top notch. Did i mention the speed of shipment? Wow is all I can say. Totally satisfied with the product and the company. Well done!

I have now bought two of these switches, after being happy with the performance and build quality of the first, two years ago. The TESmart allows you to connect two different computers to a monitor and accessories, such as USB keyboard and mouse. The switching unit is solidly built with a power switch to turn the thing on and off on the front panel, along with four lights that show what's active. A push button switch between the two inputs. On the back, you connect a supplied video HDMI/USB cable to the ports on your computer, and plug in the monitor and USB devices to be shared. A plasticky remote lets you switch inputs (battery not included) but since the switch sits under my monitors, I just use the push button.So far the switches have worked perfectly. They toggle between the two computer outputs with no issue, and the video and USB connected devices have worked flawlessly. The amount of space this TESmart switch has saved on my desk makes it worth every penny. I highly recommend this TESmart switch for anyone needing this capability!
