Bought this item as one of the only KVM switches to use DP and allow 1080P at 144hz. Immediately out of the box one of the two ports for monitor out did not work. Reached out to TrendNet tech support and they suggested needing their recommended DP cables (DP1.2) and that my cables (DP1.4) were the cause for the issue. When I asked why that would be possible they could not answer and tried getting me to troubleshoot the device which was unplugging and plugging everything in. They then said it was because I was plugging it in using the wrong ordered, so I had them explain exactly what order to plug everything in and followed it exactly as they explained it. The result was that still only 1 monitor displayed, and that the refresh rate of that monitor now capped out at 100hz when it was previously able to connect at 144hz. When I let TrendNet know this they suggested the resolution was wrong and that I needed to change it to 4k resolution.Amazon is currently replacing this with another unit to make sure it is not the unit itself that is defective, but from trial and error (second PC can connect to both monitors, but only if mirror the display, third computer that uses HDMI to DP adapter can connect both monitors without issue but only 1 can be actively on at a time) I feel it is the quality of the hardware in general and want to warn other perspective buyers. If the second unit does resolve these issues and works consistently I will update my review.Buyer beware.

On the plus side, it works. Monitors, Keyboard and Mouse are shared.Switching between the 2 computers is a bit slow but managable.2 things are annoying me.1- When you switch to a computer, it disconnects the other computer from the monitors so when I switch back, all my windows are stacked on the main monitor.2- mouse's cursor speed. Mine is a razor and the kvm slowed it to a crawl. I went into windows parameter and set it to maximum...still way too slow. I had to go in the mouse software (it's a razor) and greatly increase the speed just to get a decent one. There also seems to be some lag sometimes and I end up clicking on the wrong thing.

If you are juggling between work and home computer, this KVM does the magic, specially if you have a 4K monitor. It also supports GSYNC so no worries there, the USB 2.0 hub works fine with my Corsair K70. Multimedia keys and volume rocker work on it just fine. No complains here.

I have two 4K monitors running at 60hz with this KVM.It works well. Only issue I've had is sometimes one of the screens will lose signal for a second and come back. no idea what is causing that.and yes, like any KVM you lose your windows positioning each time you switch. But that will happen with any KVM.I'd recommend this for those with two 4K monitors.

My usecase. I have a MacPro (2019) hooked to a DELL 6000 USB C hub for work. I have a separate gaming Win10 PC mainly used by my son. I want to share my dual monitors, keyboard and mouse. Monitors are a pair of AOC 24G2 (144hz) and keyboard is Razer Blackwidow Elite and mouse is a Razer Viper. Using Synapse 3 on the PC and using on board profile memory when switched to the MAC.Let's start with the good.Well packaged and well presented product. Casing is metal. All the inputs and outputs are in the back and relatively out of sight. The switch buttons are hard plastic but give a nice positive click and beep when the switch happens. Actually I could do with out the "beep" as there is quite the audible "click" and light show that happens to indicate a switch is done. Maybe this "beep" is useful if you are using hotkeys and the unit is hidden under the desk or something. It's hard to find a dual DisplayPort KVM switch for this price. I'll give a + for the value. Monitors worked right off the bat without issue. Never an issue with the monitor switching. PC and Mac both at 144hz.The bad. The USB hub I think is finicky. First of all as others have said, there is something odd or basic with dedicated keyboard and mouse ports. First of all my mouse would detect but the DPI resolution feels like it was cut by 60%. I had to up my REGULAR dpi (of 1800) to 5000 to make it feel like normal. My keyboard would not detect as a Razer Huntsman but as a Generic device. Synapse 3 software would not detect my keyboard but it detected by mouse just fine. I ended up plugging both keyboard and mouse into the 2 given shared USB hub ports. On to the hub of the KVM switch. Finicky. The first cable I tried was a never used before USB A / B cable from a printer. Fresh out of a bag it worked for about 10 mins then the hub stopped being detected. Error from windows was "Device Descriptor could not be requested".. something like that. No amount of rebooting, usb clearing/uninstalling, power cycling would make that error go away. I eventually just bought 2 new USB 2.0 A/B cables and those surprising worked just fine. Bad cable? OK bad cable. Now onto the MAC. When switching to the mac the USB hub also would not detect. I tried both cables. Eventually for some odd reason changing the USB C port used on the MAC worked. At this time everything is working as expected. It's only been a couple of hours but I have been fighting this thing for 2 days before getting things cleanly wired and working. Also the reports of the windows being bounced around after switching away because of no EDID emulation is true. Don't expect the windows on the second screen necessarily to stay there. Sometimes one monitor is not detected and you need to switch again. Surprisingly no such issue on the Mac however that switch takes several seconds to initialize.I'll leave it like this. This is MUCH better than the setup I had previously. If I get annoyed enough at the instability I will return and buy cheaper individual DisplayPort switch for each monitor and a separate USB hub switch for the monitor and keyboard. That total solution would cost me half of this all-in-one KVM switch at the cost of my hitting 3 buttons to switch everything over.At this time 4/5 stars because this is totally usable by me and I would buy it again if it stays in this usable state.

This is not a professional switch, there is no config, no vlan, but this is exactly what is nice about it. It is small, durable and works perfectly. Speed is great, the switch easily handle 2-3 connections without any slowdowns. My setup is not the latest and greatest and my HardDrive IO (servers, laptops, revo, etc...) top at about 60MB/s. Considering that my weak link are my Hard drives, the switch has been able to sustain 3 connections using 52MB/s each without problem. This TEG-S80G is kind of new, but I own a TEG-S50G since March 2010 that has been working perfectly since then.Pros:- Metal- Can also be fixed to wall very easily.- small- fast- stableCons:- none

After owning this switch for 6 months, I remain delighted. It works straight out of the box, no set-up required. Just plug it in, connect the required devices and it works like a charm. I might add that the Amazon seller, WinRar, is just the best. Great service, great prices and incredibly speedy delivery.I looked at a number of switches from various suppliers. Some were double the price of this product, but I would warrant, none could do a better job. My concern, before purchase, was because this was less expensive than other products, it would be less effective. That is not the case. It just sits there quietly doing a great job.

I purchased this gigabit switch so that I could create a small home network with my PC and my PS3 (along with any future devices I might want). I use my PS3 to stream HD movies from my PC with PS3 media server. Before, I streamed the movies wirelessly and had constant problems with the movies stuttering. Whenever the bitrate exceeded 10-15 mbps, the movie paused and became unwatchable. I'd have to pause the movie for a second, then hit replay until the movie went to a lower bitrate, and it was highly annoying. Not only did I stream movies wirelessly, but I connected wirelessly to the internet with my PC as well. I've had problems with my wireless connection ever since I moved in, and I always assumed it was my provider's fault. I was lucky to average 10 mbps download, even though I pay for 15 mbps. I was on the verge of contacting my provider the service was so bad. So I started reading around online, and decided that a wired connection might solve both my problems, and that the gigabit switch was the way to go.I installed the switch last night. I ran 75 ft of CAT 6 cable from my PC to my PS3, tacking it along the baseboard and door frames with insulated staples to make it look pretty. I also updated all my ethernet cords to new CAT 6 cables. I plugged everything into the switch, and plugged my cable modem into the WAN port on my router. My PC instantly connected at 1 gigabit /sec. The quality difference in my internet connection IS STUNNING! I'm almost in disbelief! I went from around 10-11 mbps (on a very good day) with wireless to averaging 25 mbps with my wired conection! I also noticed lower ping times than average. The boost is simply incredible. That alone was worth the price of the switch. My next test involved streaming HD movies on my PS3. The difference, once again, is OUT OF THIS WORLD! All my stuttering issues are completely gone. I had some movies which were not even watchable due to the high bitrate, but now they stream without a hitch (last night, some movies were hitting 25 mbps bitrate and were streaming with no problems whatsoever). Not only that, but now I can stream all my HD movies while continuing to download files on my PC at full speed (over 1.5 MB/sec, whilst streaming movies at 25 mbps on my PS3). I know that a local connection through the switch makes it so that my PS3 streams movies without using the internet, but this is a HUGE bonus in my eyes. The switch itself is very sleek and attractive. It is lightweight but feels durable. I've had it on for around 16 hours now and it is not even warm. At this price, this switch is a steal. I'd recommend the 8-port over the 5-port for everyone, just in case you want to hook up more stuff to your network some day. The switch came with a small instructions booklet, but I didn't use it. No software or any other devices are included: it is solely the switch with the power supply and the small booklet. The device is truly plug-n-play, however, so you don't need any instructions. Just make sure your NIC is gigabit as well. I would recommend switching the default connection speed to 1000 mbps full duplex for all possible devices manually, instead of auto-negotiate (just to be sure you reach gigabit speeds). In sum, for my needs of a small home network, this switch is perfect. My internet connection is blazing fast now due to ditching my WiFi, and I can stream HD movies without any stuttering. The switch exceeded all my expectations. Highly recommended!!And, of course, thanks to Amazon for being so spectacular. I ordered this with 1-day shipping for 3.99 (under Prime shipping rules) and they one-nighted it from Arizona to Ohio to be delivered on a Saturday by FedEx! You rock Amazon!
