Actually I didn't have great expectations because it was so inexpensive. Turns out that it's really nice and yes it's leather.

I got this because it's not real leather, and thus far, I'm really pleased with it. Easy to forget it's on until you're shooting, no obvious wear from the string. No reason to pay more, really, at least for the amateur.
