I used this product for an Amateur Radio Voice Over IP node, and it worked very well. The proper size screwdriver for the terminal strips is included, and the terminals securely holds the wires in place. This connector is perfect for your projects where a standard RS-232 cable is not the correct configuration.

Remember to select the exact type you want. I accidentality selected the screw nut version instead of the version with the thumbscrews. But what I received is exactly what I expected. These adapters are great tools for testing and troubleshooting serial communications between devices. Then once you narrow down the exact pinout connections you need, you can get a more permanent cable manufactured or permanently crimped. But the quality of these adapters is good enough even for permanent installations.

I liked the way the unit is made and how the cover cones off and the screw terminals are nicely accessible.I used it to build a special cable for my Solar Assistant and it worked perfectly.Highly recommend.

Juste avec des petit fils électrique isolés rigide (genre ceux des cables ethernet du précablage), facile de se faire son connecteur selon schéma voulu, avec juste une pince coupante et un tournevis: Facile à modifier aussi si c'est pas le bon cablage !

Really pleased with these items. I have recommended purchasing them for work. The ability to rewire without using solder is ideal for serial comms as that is so easy to get wrong (plus all the strange ways to document interconnectivety).There are 10 terminals, 9 for the usual d-sub conductors and ground.

The DB9 adapters are a bit bulky but you expect that with a screw block inside. Everything you need is supplied.The one thing I didn't like were the thumb screws that were used. They didn't float in the case, but were threaded into the DB9 connector. This meant you couldn't pull the connector into its mate using the screws. You had to already have the DB9 connector tight in the mating connector before you started the screw. If the connector connection was loose, it would stay loose.

Great little affordable solution for custom-wired DB9 connections. Completely justifies the no-soldering approach. Definitely one I'll consider in the future. Not the strongest build quality, but entirely sufficient.
