This set of clips can be used to replace one that's been broken, or to add onto backpacks or other similar items to add more utility to them.The 1" width makes them compatible with quite a few straps that tend to come standard on various backpacks.The clasp opens smoothly, but since this is a small hook, there are limits to what it can hook to. Generally speaking, if you're replacing a similar sized hook, then you shouldn't run into any real issues with that.One thing I haven't tested is rust/corrosion resistance. Since I don't plan to use these in rain, this isn't a concern for me, but that might be something to consider. The listing says that the paint used will protect the clip, and I tend to agree, but these will scratch with use and that paint will likely come off as a result.At the time of this review, this set of 10 hooks is listed for $12.99.

These clips are similar quality to other ones heavy key chain clips that I have purchased. They work very well with smooth moving hinge. The black finish is good.
