This works with a 2002 Vitara. It's compatible with the original bracket, even though it's an aftermarket replacement. It's the same size as an original one. It helps reduce noise levels, and help performance. The metal seems like it will prevent rust or corrosion from easily starting, so I think this will last a long time.
