Neat little grower, just be sure to change water frequently to avoid bugs and bad smell. You are growing a live plant so you have to keep up with this. Easy to use, I recommend soaking seeds in water for an hour prior to setting up to help seeds germinate faster. Mist seeds periodically when germinating. Seeds go on top of the grate and roots will grow down into the bottom keeping it in place when your cat goes to chew. Haven’t decided if I like this versus growing in soil better since both work, I suppose this is a better option to avoid dirt mess. Only thing I don’t like is product doesn’t specify if plastic is BPA free, etc., which is important since my cat does use the water side occasionally. It is small so I definitely recommend supplying your cat with an actual water bowl also. Would love it if a ceramic version of these were produced.

I did not read the instructions and dumped the dry cat grass seeds on the tray with the holes. Well, some of the seeds fell through and then I thought I should read the instructions! LOL! I decided to lay a single napkin on the tray with the drain holes and then poured a single layer of seeds on the napkin. I filled the larger container with enought water to soak the napkin and the seeds. Fast forward 8 days (today is the 8th day) and the grass seeds have all sprouted!!! My 2 cats are enjoying the grass, and I am amazed that I was able to grow the grass!!!

I thought it would be a cute idea to add more cat grass around the house. The trays were straightforward to assemble. According to the instructions, you need to soak the cat grass seeds before placing them in the upper grate area. I soaked mine for about 3 hours before putting them on top. I filled the tray with water and let it do its job. After about two weeks, both trays had grown to about 6 inches tall. I used one tray for water and the other for dry food. It's amusing to watch my cat occasionally graze his face against the grass and start nibbling on it. However, the small water tank for the cat grass needs to be refilled almost daily, which I found more bothersome than expected. In soil, I can go 2-5 days without watering. Additionally, I think it will be challenging to clean and reset for the next batch once the current one dies, as the roots tend to wrap around and through the grated top. While I enjoy having cat grass in his feeding area, I find it to be more work than necessary and much easier to grow in soil.

This is a 2-pack of cat grass planters. They have a divided section that can be filled with water or food for your cats. No instructions or seeds are included; you supply your own. It’s pretty simple and can be used with or without soil. It works best when you change out the water every few days to keep it from getting smelly. I like that 2 trays are included so you can swap them out and have a new batch growing while the cats are using one - no waiting between crops! I’m happy with it and would recommend.

These worked well. Wished my cat was more interested. The roots evened up with mold growing.
