The four inch faceplate with 1x8 thread for inboard use is a high quality faceplate. Good quality machining and workmanship are evident. In use it is doing what I expected. I can recommend this faceplate to anyone.

This faceplate will function just fine. It seated properly and has no runout. It arrived covered in machine oil, as most machined products do to prevent corrosion. There was a little rust on the flats cut on the backside for using a wrench, shown in the photo. It also had a lot of small scratches on the front and back, like it had been chucked in a bin of 500 of them between the manufacturing and packaging process. The scratches don’t really matter as far as functionality, and it will be in a working shop and receive many more dings in use. One final nitpick, the holes drilled for screws weren’t sharp, but they had a bit of a burr on the edges. Not quite enough to cut yourself on, but not a nice feeling on the hands. It is nice that it includes a hex key and set screws for when you have to run in reverseOverall, I am glad that I got this, and I would definitely recommend purchasing one if you need the functionality. This will get it done.

I originally bought the wrong size (1¼"x8tpi), which was returned easy. This is a well made face plate that spins true on the lathe. It does have a grub screw (and a wrench for it) so it does not spin off when running the lathe in reverse.

This is a very well made face plate to add to your collection. It's perfectly machined inside and out. I like that it has two set screws to lock it for reverse sanding, but wary that the screws could damage the spindle threads. That's not a design fault of the faceplate though. In fact, the set screw placement is about as far back as it can be so thread damage would be limited to the base of the spindle. To avoid any thread damage, you could put a bit of brass or other soft metal under the screw to grip but not damage. It's nicely packaged in plastic (I've had others arrived just in a box with corrosion issues) and it comes with an allen key. If you need a faceplate, you can't go wrong with this one.
