It’s really nice. Sparks still get out through the opening, but they’ve usually had a chance to cool off before that happens. However, LEAVE IT OPEN when you’re done with the fire. I found a bird trapped in mine, it managed to get in through the gap at the top but couldn’t fly back out. I was lucky to have found it before it starved.

Bel objet et pratique mais son espérance de vie dépend de l'envergure du feu. Si les feux sont trop gros et dégagent beaucoup de chaleur, le grillage se déforme et la peinture brule faisant place à de la rouille. Même après un seul usage, le mien est très déformé et je dois le repeindre avec une peinture résistant à la chaleur. Dorénavant je ne l'utiliserai que pour de très petits feux.

We often use our fire pit to burn yard debris from our 3 acre yard. We have been reluctant to leave the final small burning branches unattended. With this cover, once it fits over what remains, we can leave it to burn itself out. The quarter inch mesh contains nearly everything and what escapes, we found to be only ash. It works great for us.

I like this fire pit screen, but I have to buy a new one every 2 or 3 years. However that is better than the shorter screens. I would have to replace shorter ones every year.

More like a 4.5! As stated this screen was easy to assemble, it opens and closes easily, like the handles, fits out fire pit perfectly and look good. The mesh looks durable but since this screen will be exposed to high heat and flames the paint will burn away quickly and start rusting. Only wish the mesh was more heavy duty.
