Overall I’m pretty happy with this unit, and I can’t see many applications it won’t work for, from highway tractors, to actual tractors, solar installs, pickups or boats.I don’t need the lock out option, and I can already see myself hitting my knuckles on it, so I decided to install the bracket upside down (my other choice was to bend/ cut it out of the way, but I liked the centre of gravity with it flipped upside down more. The bracket itself feels like it weighs more than the switch, however the switch seems plenty sturdy and inspires lots of confidence with me. As you twist it “on” the handle “lowers” into place and finally snaps in with a satisfying twist and click. Inversely, you hear the click at about 30 degrees and the handle finishes turning and “raising” the last 60 degrees. The bracket itself is 3.5” square and appears to be made of ⅛” steel (or 11 or 12g with some thick paint). The studs are 3/8” (actually 10mm when I read the ad), although I don’t know the pitch. The nuts appear to be 17mm, although I’m not certain. The handle is held in by a roll pin. I got two pins which was nice.It looks like they just drilled out the handle for the lockout hole (3/8” as well).I would try to install in an indoor/sheltered location, however I do imagine you’d get quite a few years of use, even with it exposed. It does appear you can disassemble it for servicing if needed. I didn’t want to take it apart ahead of time.At the end of the day, it’s a cheap price to pay over a vehicle fire, or even a dead battery.
