Bought it last year, didn't last a full year and just snapped...had to adjust the tensioner to even allow the cable to even create enough tension since its too long.

The cable was slightly too long to attain proper cable tension at rest. I cut approximately 1/2 inch from the adjustment rod and it is now working perfectly.

This fit my 24 inch MTD with 8 HP Tecumseh engine. The adjustment screw all the way to the shortest possible setting and it feels about 1/4 inch longer than i would like, but it works very well. There is a bit of slack in the cable when not engaged, maybe it's supposed to. The original cable was slightly shorter, that's for sure. Definitely not 2 inch difference like some other reviews say. Check photo for reference which model it was installed on.

This was a waste of time. The cable doesn't even come close to being a replacement for the 746-0898 part number. It is close to 3 inches too long. The suggestion in the product listing suggests that the adjustment portion of the cable can allow for a range of fitment. This may be true but it is NO WHERE CLOSE to fitting a Yard Works blower that specifies the 746-0898 (superseded by 946-0898). Went to a local yard equipment shop and purchased the exact fit for $20 and no headache. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
