My orginal intention was not to use it as a hot tub mat, but as a liner for my entire laundry room floor, and wow did it ever exceed my expectations. The absorbency is absolutely amazing and the smooth plastic bottom effectively protects my floor completely from the water. In fact, the instant you spill something on the mat, there's a dark moisture mark that disappears within seconds so you wouldn't even be able to tell that the spot was still wet. I suppose that could be a plus or a minus, depending on how you look at it. lolOut of the box it came folded up and taped together so it was incredibly creased initially, but it's nothing my steamer couldn't handle. If you don't have one, there are no instructions that say you can't iron it, so you might want to do the whole iron-over-a-wet-towel deal that you normally do with creased carpets. The upper material feels very much like a fuzzy felt, so not quite the tough hair you get on regular door mats. But the bottom is a completely smooth and glossy rubberized PE that isn't exactly super grippy, but I haven't had it slip on my tile floor yet. Then again, I did cut the mat down to size to fit around my sink exactly so it acts a bit like a stopper.Overall though, I'm really happy with the performance. The thickness is good (it's on the thin side) absorbency is GREAT, it cuts down easily and doesn't slip. It even feels quite nice on bare feet. From what I understand, it's not machine washable though, so spot cleaning is about the best you can do. Full marks from me.
