It’s plastic. WHY would you spend basically the same amount of money on one name-brand spool (from a certain big box store) when you can get five for the same price? I was a bit hesitant to buy them, but they have worked out exactly the same as the plastic line that comes from the manufacturer.I did read in several reviews that most new spools sold now have less “teeth” (how it feeds the plastic forward when you need more). This results in using more of the line, and using it up faster (sneaky). My very smart hubby got around that by using the spool from the original line we had in (with more teeth), and just winding the new plastic line onto that spool! Do that, and you are saving a lot of money!

I never used it because I realized right away that the length of line is definitely not 30ft. The line seems like it would work fine as it ressembles what I already have. I hadn't realized when I ordered that these spools would not even be able to hold 30 ft of line. False advertisement! In fact it doesn't even have 11ft as most spools will have. It has 10' 8". They rip you off 4" on each spool May not seem like much, but if this is the case with all spools, this company is saving quite a bit. I'm returning, as I don't buy from unethical companies.

The spools fit my trimmer perfectly. Unfortunately these use the new Ryobi design with less teeth driving the line feed which means that the line goes fast. Ryobi One 18V trimmer feeds the line every time you start it, so if you have a lot of small spots to trim, you'll be cutting off a lot of the line. That is however Ryobi's design change, and can't really fault this product for following the OEM product.The string on the spools worked fine, it didn't delaminate or break apart, and seemed to perform as good as the orignal ones. There is only about 4 meters of string on each spool, and that seems a bit low, there is definitely space available for more.The included cap fits very tightly and is difficult to remove once installed, but otherwise matches the original.Overall not a bad choice, but in the future I'll just stick to refilling my spools with bulk string.
