From a student flight perspective, the de Havilland Tiger Moth was a relatively stable and forgiving aircraft that had few shortcomings in handling and generally tolerated one or another stupid mistake of the novice flight. The Tiger Moth quickly gained the reputation of being an easy to fly aircraft, but difficult to fly it well. These features seemed to make them the ideal aircraft to serve as a primary training for a large number of pilots to fly in service during World War II.
