Engine Cooling Fan Control Module
The working principle of cooling fan control module and its common fault symptoms:
The cooling fan control module is responsible for regulating the speed of the radiator cooling fan, thus controlling the engine's cooling effect. The basic control principle involves the electronic control unit (ECU), control module, and temperature sensor.
The ECU receives the signal from the temperature sensor and uses this signal to control the fan control module, thereby achieving automatic control of the cooling fan.
- The fan cannot start.
- The fan keeps running or cannot be turned off.
- Temperature indication is abnormal.
- Engine overheating.
- Engine or cooling system malfunction light is on.

Since I installed this Module I don't have any overheating problems, however the fan connector does not fit into the module because it has some keys, I had to break then and the lock on the fan connector, I just need to know the matting connector for this module to replace it, otherwise the connector can disconnect by itself, but there is no information on the connector part number.

This replaced the original module in our Volvo XC 70 at 110K miles. The original failed to stop the fan from operating when the car was turned off. We had to disconnect the negative terminal to shut the car’s fan off for a couple days while we waited for the part. After the swap and reconnecting the battery the car operation returned to normal.It is incredibly cheaper than a Volvo part, close to a factor of 10x when I was buying it. Installed about March 1, 2024. Let’s see how long it lasts. If I have to swap four or five times due to longevity problems it will be a reasonable value. Making the module swap is about a 2 of 5 wrench rating project. I accessed from above and below the car with it on jack stands.
