I bought this in 2020 for my son. He dreamed of creating crazy new sounds by applying digital filters and layers of sound. He was right. We've coupled it with a "Zoom G3n Guitar Multi-Effects Processor Pedal" and a Berringer PA system. He's had a lot of fun with it. The craftsmanship is impressive...it's a pretty thing to look at. The components are quality. We did wind up buying higher end strings. The sound quality is really up to the sound system and digital effects. He has remarked that he prefers the sound of the school's acoustic cello. I believe he could get the sound he wants by repositioning speakers and changing equalizer settings.I'm writing this review today because the pickup failed last week and I'm in the process of fix/repair. I believe it failed because there is no on/off switch on the battery. So, my son has been unplugging the 9V battery between sessions...the wire finally failed. It's unclear whether he really needs to unplug it or not between sessions (He claims the batteries drain quickly if he doesn't). So, I can't knock the design yet...but, it does seem that an on/off switch along with a power LED would have been nice.
