An informed consumer will know HOW to properly use this gauge and how NOT to use it. My 48 volt Trojan T-875 battery data sheet shows that the batteries are fully charged at 8.49v each (50.94v for all 6 in series). It also shows that the batteries are 50% charged at 8.07v each (48.42v for all 6). This indicator gauge shows the 10th light on when the total volts is greater than 49.2v, the 9th light on at 49.2v, and the 8th light on at 47.4v (7.9v each). According to Trojan data sheet, at 7.9v each, the battery charge is only 32%, but the gauge shows 8 lights on representing 80% charge. So the gauge calibration is NOT in sync with the documentation from the battery manufacturers. The gauge works well, but an INFORMED consumer will know to recharge the batteries when the 8th light first turns on. This will prevent the batteries from a deep discharge state and protect the long battery life.
