New housing and new larger battery clips seem more robust than the same items from a few years back. Works as intended.I have several of these, and they all work well, IMO, extending the life of my many batteries.

Historically I like Battery Tender and mount them under the hood with a short lead to the front grill. It's winter and you plug in the block heater and battery maintainer at the same time. This model wants you to plug in at the site so you need 2 outlets, one for block heater and other for battery tender. The unit is unwieldy large and will not fit in outlets protected by weather caps. I used an illuminated extension to show what I mean. Performance wise very pleased. Completed a 4 stage charge, may have done a bit of desulphating at 15.2 volts and 880Ma. and finally settled down to 13. 9 v float charge. Bought a flush mount socket for under the hood installation.

These are used on our lawnmowers, tractors, and pickup trucks. The larger batteries take a long time to do a full charge if you need to with the Jr, but we use a higher output charger in those cases. In terms of partial charging like topping up and floating/maintaining, which is what we were after, this Jr model does the job.In the past we had some equipment that wouldn’t get used very often, especially throughout the cold Canadian winter and so the batteries would only last 2-3 years. Ever since we started using these maintainer products our batteries have been lasting 6-7 years. As soon as something gets parked it gets connected to a Tender, and the engine always fires right back up because of this. Considering batteries typically cost hundreds of dollars, the cost of these maintainers is well worth it. Our oldest Battery Tenders are over 12 years old and are still functioning, and only 1 has ever stopped functioning after a decade of consistent use.It comes with a full 12ft cord with a quick connector at about the 10ft mark, and both a separate 2ft clip or ring terminal cord. Both cords have replaceable fuses. You can hook up both to different batteries at the same time and just disconnect the quick connector to move the maintainer between them. The plug box is lightweight and doesn’t sag on the outlet and leaves enough space to use the upper socket. The cord has a medium flex and has a somewhat tough jacket, but isn’t built for being heavily abused. For the more technical buyer, this unit looks to hit a max of 14.5V and 1.8A while charging and floats/maintains at 13.1V.

Bought a new battery for my motorcycle a year ago. Left it in storage over the winter and the battery went dead, impossible to bring it back to life. Bought a second battery thinking the first one was defective. Left it packed for two months and again went dead. Bought a Battery tender and installed it and plugged it in every time I leave it for a while. Now been a year and the battery is in great shape. Like having a bodyguard near you battery to keep it warm and ready... now have been impressed and a true beleiver in Battery Tender... Great product... Really..!!

I'm using this Battery Tender Jr. to keep my NA Miata's battery topped up while it's stored for the winter. Installation takes only a few minutes, and the instructions that come with it give all the necessary information. That being said, it's pretty much the same as hooking up a battery booster, or jump starting a car, so anyone familiar with cars (the target demographic) won't need the instructions anyway. In my opinion, the best feature of the Battery Tender trickle chargers is that most of them have split cables with capped connectors in the middle, and the way they hook up to the battery and ground is with ring terminals, so you can effectively connect the battery side and leave it hooked up permanently, and just connect the two halves of the cable when the vehicle is stored.Remove your car's positive battery terminal, pull the tension bolt out of the clamp, add the BT Jr's positive cable's ring terminal to the clamp, put the bolt back through and reinstall. Connect the BT Jr's negative ring terminal to a good ground (an existing body ground in the engine bay, or in my case the trunk is ideal), plug the two halves of the cble to each other, and plug the brick into an outlet. Takes like 5 minutes, and when you are ready to take your vehicle out of storage, unplug the brick, unplug the two halves of the cable from each other, slide on the attached rubber caps, and you're ready to go. Being able to just leave it connected permanently is such a great feature for something like this meant specifically for summer vehicles or motorcycles. 100% recommended for ease of installation, good build quality, and very reasonable price.

Great product. It's small, well thought-out and does what it says on the box.I travel a lot for work, so my car is parked at home for 2-3 weeks every month. I drive a BMW, and the electronics draw the battery down while it's parked. It will start after 2 weeks but not after 3 if no one runs the engine. So I picked up a battery tender junior and I've been very happy with it. It's small enough to tuck in the trunk, and the detachable leads are a great feature - I leave them attached to my car's jumping posts under the hood, so it takes all of a few seconds to connect or disconnect. It's kept my battery in great shape. In fact I've gained a few tenths of a volt both with and without the engine running, which is pretty fantastic considering my battery is 4 years old. I run a couple aftermarket amps, an obd2 wifi dongle, and a radar detector, which I know is taxing on my car's electrical device, so this guy gives me some peace of mind. And it's a steal for the price... it's a half to a third the price of a decent trickle charger, and it's better for my battery which is going to save me money over time. Very happy with this purchase.
