Baofeng is a company that makes a large variety of handheld transceivers. This BL-5 battery is for the UV-5R series only as described in the listing.Here is a direct quote from the listing:“ The BL-5 is designed for the original case style on the UV-5R series radios Including the original first and second generation UV-5R*, the third generation BF-F8RT, and with the new BFTECH BF-F5XP,BF-F5XT.*It is compatible with variations of the UV-5R such as the UV-5RTP, UV-5R Plus, and others. It is not compatible with the UV-5RA or other radios like the UV-5RA which do not conform to the base UV-5R style case guidelines.”Please heed these warnings. I have a different Baofeng radio from the GT-3 series that also uses a Baofeng BL-5 battery, but for some reason it has slightly different battery dimensions. This battery will not fit my GT-3 radio. You would think that all Baofeng BL-5 batteries would be the same dimensions, but they are not.Having said all this, this replacement battery is sold by BFTECH and is an original sealed battery from Baofeng. It’s a 7.4 volt, 1800 mah lithium battery that is made in China. It is well made and when tested, it was able to put out very close to the rated 1800 mah.If you need a battery replacement for your UV-5R series transceiver, I think it’s a very good value at the present price of $19.89, shipping included!

This is regarding the BFTECH BL-5 1800mAh 7.4V Original Li-ion Battery for Baofeng UV-5R Series BF-F8HP and BFTECH BF-F8RT, BF-F5XT, BF-F5XP Radios.This is a perfect fit for my pofung UV-5RIC. It's based on the Baofeng UV-5R Series. The only detectable difference is a minor lack of camouflage finish... at least now I don't lose my radio that often 😅It holds the same capacity as my original. It lasts exactly as long as the original. It gets almost exactly as warm as the original when charging.Sliding the battery onto the radio feels exactly the same as the original.The battery fits into the charge exactly the same as the original, with or without the radio attached.This is an excellent purchase at this price point.

I tested this with my Baofeng UV5R Plus.I tested this by receiving the weather band for a fixed amount of time and at the same volume, checking the voltage level (you can do this by holding 0) at set intervals, and comparing the results between this battery and my stock battery.The voltage drop appeared to be the same as my stock 1800 mAh battery, so it looks like the capacity rating is spot on.
