My first one got run over and broken so I bought 2 more. I live near a nature sanctuary so what are weeds to us can be easily whacked out of the yard and around.

I like this electric (plug-in) Black & Decker weed whacker better than my two battery powered auto feed Black & Decker weed whackers put together. That’s right, I now own THREE Black & Decker trimmers. Two are completely useless because the auto feed doesn’t work, no matter how much cleaning & replacing of parts & using of OEM spools of line I have bought for them. After these bad experiences with Black & Decker products, I had no intention of ever buying another B&D product again. However, the trimmer I’m now reviewing, though unfortunately it is another B&D product, at the time of purchase it had the lowest price plus the one feature I couldn’t find in other brands; & that is a MANUAL BUMP FEED for advancing line.I’d bet auto feed trimmers have cost consumers hundreds, if not thousands of dollars; because, for the most part they don’t work, based on the hundreds of complaints I’ve read from buyers of at least 4 different brands. All of them have frequent problems with auto feed. Don’t be fooled by advertising. Unless you have money to throw away, which I definitely do not, or can afford to buy a high-end gas powered trimmer; I can’t recommend auto feed trimmers, whether battery operated or plug-in. For all I know, this issue exists across the board, regardless of price.Despite the obvious hassle of dealing with a power cord, my new trimmer has more power, & more consistent power, than my more expensive auto feed trimmers; & I’ve had no issues with the bump feed to date.Between parts, line, & batteries plus the cost of the trimmers, that’s around $400 flushed down the drain, thanks to defective B&D auto feed trimmers.I do highly recommend this plug in trimmer, or any trimmer brand that has the bump feed function for advancing line.

We wanted a Black & Decker product because the last trimmer we had from them, lasted at least 20 years! This one is similar but is quite a bit heavier. So it is taking some getting used to. At least it use the same line spool/size and we can still buy that at our local store. If this trimmer lasts even 5 years, it's probably a great deal for the price we paid!

Being a woman i look for ease of use and especially the weight of the product. This is not the first time i have owned one so i have used it very often. With all things, if you take care of your tool, it can last a long time so it will be worth the price. I spray the whole bottom part of the weed eater with a car wax this way i just rinse it and the grass just slides right off. If you're scared it will rust the spring inside, you can dry it using a shopvac or an air tool or just run it for a bit. So of course with all that being said, I do recommend this product.

This is a very simple machine, it does its job without any extra-fuss or features you will almost-never (or never) need. It is light (I am a woman in my 50's and it is very easy for me to maneuver safely and effectively), very functional and just perfect for the small area I need it for. It is just the right length for me, and the "assembly" is incredibly simple (two small parts need to be added, but you just undo and do one little screw. Took me longer to find my screwdriver than to do the job.)Because it is so light it makes the job easy. I had another previously that was "more powerful" and it weighed a lot more. I don't see a need for more power as I am just cutting weeds and little grasses, and the lighter the model the longer I can manage it comfortably, and safely.

I used this weed trimmer right out of the box for the first time. I can't get over what a great job this thing does ! I like the bump feed, because you can pretty much regulate the amount of line that you want to use, and if you don't feel like tapping or bumping it on the sidewalk, you can just turn it over, pressing the middle (bump feed) part, and pull gently on the line, and it advances to where you want it. I have better luck with this type of weed trimmer, because the line does not seem to break off every two seconds.I know that sometimes the dual line head sounds better, but truly, I had better luck with this single line trimmer yesterday than I have had with a dualline, and this reminds me of when the weedeaters first came out. They were much like this one. I had the best luck with them and even better with this new trimmer. With the automatic feed trimmers, I find that the line keeps advancing even if I don't stop and push on the trigger. I spend about 3 times as long with an automatic feed trimmer than I did with the bump feed. I wasted more line with the automatic feed trimmer, and I might add that sometimes I cannot do the job at all with the automatic feed.Another feature of this great trimmer is that it is so light that I can actually do this job without my back hurting. I am disadvantaged in the respect that I am too small to handle a gas powered trimmer, and the dual line, automatic feed electric trimmers, are also too heavy. It feels as though this particular trimmer was made just for me, and I am so happy that I found it. A year ago, I hurt my back, had to have surgery, and a lot of physical therapy, and am just now getting to where I can do some of these things like light trimming. This trimmer gets an A+ from me !

It came fast and it is a real brand-name product. The product is easy to use and works well. The price was also very good. You need an good extension cord with three prongs ( a ground) for this. My cord came unplugged often when I use this so I must tie cord in a a half knot around the handle. It is light enough to use without tiring my arms too much and even kids can use this without weight being an issue. While it is light I think it is not flimsy, I don't think a landscaping company would want this but it is great for a normal sized house and yard that only wants to use it for 10 minutes every week.

So glad this is electric.I bought this locally at a farm and feed store, but you would save almost half with Amazon on line.Amazon price is much cheaper. like 40% cheaper, delivered.I am glad to have something light that buzzes the weeds and tall grass down. So far, so good. Iappreciated the engineering explanations in other reviews of this product.Light weight is a real plus for a weekend-lawn-cutter. Thanks,Black &Decker. I am thinking of buying a second one of these weedcutters as insurance.
