I was a little skeptical per some reviews, but it is great. Very sturdy. The only thing, directions are a little confusing, but after awhile and some you tube videos we figure it out.

You'll want to get a bag of sand to fill the hand rails to hold it down in the pool or else it will float. Looks way better the the little ladder that comes with the pool and far more sturdy when climbing over the edge. I mounted mine on the deck I built beside the pool. Works great like that.

The steps are inserted into some plastic nubs in the frame with one screw holding it all together through the thin layers of plastic. This had failure written all over it before an attempt was made to climb up the ladder.I would not recommend buying this ladder. I was hoping for it to be better than it was after reading the other reviews.

This is a great product, once it is assembled. The assembly instructions suck. I had to drill many holesthat should have been done at the factory. In order to use it, you must have a deck of some kind to attach it to. Also, it says to use sand to decrease its buoyancy. I recommend small pebbles as the sand has a tendency to escape. Now that I am using it, all the problems seem quite minor.

Wife hated the laser that came with our pool so I built steps and got this.Litterally took me 20min to put together and was a no brainer. People who are leaving bad reviews for this must just be clueless in reading instructions or just pissed off they needed to use a drill to drill holes. This thing is solid and customizable to your pool/deck height, hence the reason the holes aren’t pre drilled. If they were pre drilled there would be extra holes you do t need which I guarantee would confuse half the people out there and they would be complaining about extra holes. So short and sweet the ladder is great quality, easy to put together and just as good as ladders 2-3 times as expensive. If your budget minded and need a ladder buy this one. If you don’t care how much you spend buy an expensive one, which is probably the same quality and the same difficulty to put together.

Once you get through the painfully terrible instructions it’s a pretty decent ladder. Please note you need a bag of pool sand to weigh it down.

As many others have stated, the directions could've been better, but if you take your time and look at the photos, you'll be fine. I did not add sand to the uprights, as I don't want to take any chances of it escaping into my pool, because it's impossible to get it out of there if that happens. I did fill them with water and used a sandbag attached to the backside of the ladder on the swim barrier to anchor it down so it didn't float. Until I got that bag, I sat an old paint can filled with rocks on the top to keep it from floating up. If you know anything at all about science and pool ladders, they all float a bit unless secured somehow. Those is not a new thing. Overall, compared to the old ladder I had that was metal and plastic and not very stable, this one is so much widet and more stable. It made it much easier for my older relatives visiting from out of town to get in and out with ease. One other note, I have a 54" deep pool and the deck up to it is EXACTLY the same height as the pool rail, but I had to cut the pieces that go into the ladder and then into the brackets that get screwed down or the ladder would never have reached the ground inside the pool.

This was great for adults, very sturdy and easy to put together, make sure you have lots of sand to sink it.

I bought this ladder to replace the wedding cake stairs we had in our above ground pool. I just did not like them but this ladder is the best! Putting it together was tough because the directions are absolutely horrible. I found some YouTube videos that were able to help but not 100%, but with a little bit of common sense it was not too bad to put together. Once it’s together and installed in the pool, it is excellent. I am so glad that I bought this latter. Do yourself a favor and take the time to put the sand in. We put it in with a funnel and used a rubber mallet to tap on the top to make sure all the sand settled, I think we got a lot more in that way. It has not one time time picked up in the pool. This was a great purchase and I would definitely recommend it. We had all size people using this, from kids to adults over 250 pounds. We have relatives between 70 and 80 years old that easily went in and out of the pool using the ladder without any difficulty at all. I would definitely buy this again, great price for a great purchase

Nice ladder, crappy instructions. I ended up just using the picture and building it from the picture. Had lots of screws left over though so may put some extras in it. There are screw holes in the bottom of the uprights on each side which don't appear to be mentioned of use in the instructions, I just put a screw in these holes so the sand wouldn't leak out into the pool. Yes we did fill with sand for added weight. Seems good. Definitely a huge improvement to the crap I had. These seem very strong and should hold up for years to come.

We bought this ladder to replace the rickety death ladder that came with our 4' deep above-ground pool. We already built wood steps with a small deck/platform at the top and just needed stairs or a ladder to connect to them from inside the pool. These definitely fit the bill and were priced right.Though the instructions were terrible and wrong (for instance, it said the holes to attach the steps to the ladder rails were pre-drilled, but they most definitely were NOT), this was not too bad to put together, although you really need two people. With a little common sense, it's pretty self-explanatory. The ladder steps simply slide into the ladder rails and then you're supposed to screw each one into place, using the holes that were not pre-drilled in ours. Pro tip: if yours also lacks pre-drilled holes, drill the darn holes before trying to put the screws into the slippery plastic pieces so you don't end up impaling your hand with a screw. This is the voice of experience, folks, so trust me on this one. You may also want to use different screws than the included ones, but more on that later.Attaching the assembled ladder to the deck was also pretty easy. One of the ends of the ladder handrail piece was cut backwards, though, so we had to use the jigsaw to fix it and create the proper angle cut. You could, of course, use a handsaw as recommended in the packaging, but the jigsaw makes quick work of the task. So far, minus one star for crappy directions, no pre-drilled holes, and the wrong cut on the ladder handrail. Anyone with a bit of common sense should be able to figure this all out and still successfully assemble the ladder. After we assembled it, I used the ladder to get in. Much better than the horrible ladder that came with the pool! My husband (an ex lineman, so he's kind of a giant), was already in the pool, holding the ladder while I attached it to the deck. I'm by no means dainty myself, but I do not exceed the weight limit, either. My husband does. After relaxing in the pool for a bit, I got out of the pool with no problems. He climbed out after me, but when he reached the top step (completely out of the water), it disconnected from the ladder rail on one side. He already had one foot on the pool deck so he didn't plunge back into the pool, but he was definitely precariously perched for a moment. We pulled the ladder out after he reached the safety of dry land, and found that the screw used to attach the step bent and pulled out. I only took off one star here because he DOES exceed the weight limit, but upon closer inspection, the screws are really too short. Each screw should be more like 4" to ensure that it goes all the way through the step. Since returning this would be a pain, we plan to reassemble the ladder with 4" screws in each of the steps, which I think will make it sturdy enough for our continued use.All in all, had I purchased this at a local store, I would probably have returned it. However, I think the longer screws will make this ladder usable, and the extra few bucks for different screws is much less of a hassle/expense than trying to return this giant, heavy box. At less than half of the price of "wedding cake" style stairs that we really wanted, I still think this ladder is a pretty good deal, and as long as you don't exceed the weight limit, it seems sturdy.
