Hardware store told me I had to replace the whole valve. Found this kit and saved a bunch of money. Super easy install! Plenty of YouTube videos. Just do the whole house. If one is bad, the others are on their way out.

When I went to repair the toilet tank, I discovered the wall valve was also broken. I first looked up videos on replacing the valve as a whole unit, which seemed like a lot of plumbing work. Then I found a valve stem kit. It’s a factory OEM kit, so I bought it confidently, and it fit perfectly. The repair was really easy.Repair tip: Have a large bowl ready to catch the remaining water in the pipe. Wall valves are usually located at the lowest point of the house, so water will drain down to the valve.

These are a little different from what was removed, but are 100% compatible. No more leaking from the stem and inability to stop water completely. Very happy.
