frame digs into turf or soil no matter what angle you use this product. utterly useless and flimsy. Arrived in scattered pieces. Almost seems like it is missing a lot of pieces but in reality this is just a rip off. I'm going to manufacture something else using the handle and head and throw away the provided spikes. Easier than returning it.

This item works perfect for planting grass seed, in florida dirt, don't know about in hard clay. Makes small holes in dirt for seed to go just below surface and protected from sun. Made very well except one problem I had, the cotter pins in the ends that hold the shaft in, are not cotter keys they put safety pins maybe for a rider mower pulling a cart. 1st thing is to remove and replace the safety pins and put real cotter keys in place or some heavy duty wire, the safety pins in grass will pull the pins out and it will disassemble right in front of you. Replace the pins and you will have no trouble.

I received the aerator last night and used it for the first time today. After 30 minutes, the slip pin came off the end and then roller fell apart. Needless to say it is somewhere in my yard! I went to Lowe’s and got some cotter pins and had to fix it on my own. I replaced the other slip pin too while I was at it because it looked ready to fall out too. I recommend replacing the pins on the end of the roller before your first use. After replacing parts, the tool worked great.

I have another tool similar to this one but with much longer tines that DOESN'T work nearly as well as this one does. The tines on this tool are very, very sharp and do a great job loosening soil for patching bare spots. And there are many of the aerating discs, too. It really works great. Wet soil does tend to accumulate a little between the discs but - not worth complaining too much about. This tool is 12" wide but it seems like it would really be beneficial to expand the width to 18". I had an area that needed overseeding that was about 10' x 10' and - it took FOREVER to prepare the area for seed.

Pretty flimsy and under designed. The whole stitcher blade apparatus is held together by two tiny, spindly lynch pins that fall out very easily and will definitely get lost. Once out, all the blades and spacers fall off the bar. Why in the world would they drain it with this terrible flaw? It would have been so easy to secure the ends with bolts instead. Very stupid decision.
